Purple Finch a rare sight

in Photography Loverslast year (edited)

This purple finch looked like a young one as it was fairly small, even a touch smaller than the sparrows that I regularly see. It was tricky to identify as I have never seen one before, at first I thought it might be a type of crossbill. When reviewing different local images of red birds I found the purple finch to be the closest match to my images. It was only on my front lawn for a little while and I haven't seen any since so I almost assume they typically wouldn't hang around my neighborhood.

It can only take dexterity to have this smart shot

In my area there are still quite a lot of wild birds. But right now I don't have the equipment to capture the photos. Interesting shot @mmckinneyphoto13
