H ello friends, I realize that every time I go out to the countryside to take photos, it brings me a lot of calm and well-being, both physical and spiritual. Could it be pleasure hormones flowing through the bloodstream? Probably. More likely it’s a strange but very healthy mix that happens when you do what you love… and if it has to do with nature, even better.

H ola amigos, me doy cuenta de que cada vez que salgo al campo a hacer fotos esto me aporta mucha calma, bienestar, tanto físico como espiritual. ¿Serán hormonas de placer en el torrente sanguíneo? Seguramente. Más bien es una mezcla rara, pero muy saludable, que se da cuando uno hace lo que le gusta… y si tiene que ver con la naturaleza, mejor aún.

I thought I would find birds from the very first moment, but suddenly I saw this elderly woman walking alone through the grass, and well, I simply couldn’t resist taking her photo.

Yo pensaba encontrar aves desde el primer instante, pero de pronto veo a esta anciana caminando sola entre la hierba, y bueno, no pude dejar de hacerle la foto.

Among Cuban birds, this one is, in my opinion, the king of the fields. Not only because of its surprising melody, but also because of how territorial it is. The posture it takes when defending its territory is truly impressive.

De las aves cubanas, esta es, a mi entender, el rey de los campos. No solo por su melodía, que es sorprendente, sino por lo territorial que es. Además, la postura que adopta cuando defiende su territorio es realmente imponente.

They are my little guardians. There’s no place I go where I don’t feel these small creatures watching me from the ground.

Ellos son mis vigilantes. No hay lugar al que vaya donde no sienta a estos pequeños observándome desde el suelo.

Not only birds—sometimes a lizard also sneaks into my photos. All it takes is good light, a nice background… and that’s it.

No solo aves: a veces también algún lagarto se cuela en mis fotos. Solo hace falta buena luz, un fondo bonito… y listo.

And so I keep walking, observing, taking photos, living. Enjoying my surroundings and the birds to the fullest.

Y así voy caminando, observando, haciendo fotos, viviendo. Disfrutando al máximo de mi entorno y de las aves.
