I love Malta, we've been several times and one year seriously considered buying property there but they didn't have anything we liked and the more we looked into it, we decided not to in the end. Still quite fancy it though!!
Love the place and it's been a long while since we last visited.
That’s great you have been several times and love it. Malta is an awesome place to visit and spend some time but “living” is a different story.
For us too… been 5 years now, time does fly. We were there at the wrong time as covid started and changed a lot of things and what we could do and go to.
Thanks for joining me on this walk. Have a lovely Wednesday 😊

We've not been since Covid but last went in 2019 before it all kicked off. My brother and sister in law lived there for a couple of years, in the heart of Valletta. They had an interesting time there, Penny found work at the University as a lecturer and my brother was well located for various documentary projects around the Mediterranean plus some about Malta itself. See below...
Whilst they were there, having tried for a baby for some time, Penny fell pregnant and Izzie was born. They're back in London now and move back in 2018.
That is a while…
We lived in Birgu for the first half year, right in the centre of old town next to the church bells hahaha, and moved to Rabat later. Hubby got relocated with work from Gibraltar to Malta with his company. We went along… when they closed down the Gib office.
Oh the salt flats. Beautiful… will watch it after finishing up my work. Thanks for sharing, will have a look around if there are more videos of the med.
Most expats that move only stay a couple of years for various reasons.
I think for us visiting is good enough after having lived there. The islands are small.
Living on small islands isn't all that it's cracked up to be. THe pace of development there has been aggressive and I can imagine some industries have suffered, whilst others have taken over a bit too much.
I seem to recall that you were living there when I joined Hive and was getting to know people here.
I know Birgu, our friends Roberta and Johann live there, which reminds me to check if they're coming over to the UK at all this year. They often do.
Oh the things I saw on building sites 🏗️ was just crazy. Very dangerous and each day we heard about accidents or even buildings collapse. They weren’t following code etc.
Sliema was so dusty some days, you could hardly breach walking through some streets.
Could well be… hahaha although I only joined 3 years ago. So must have been back in Spain already.
Cool you know it. It’s a cool place to be. Close to everything and we hopped on the ferry right into Valetta. One didn’t need a car in that part.
Have a good evening! 😊
We stayed in Sliema quite often, at the Palace Hotel and then on later trips The Excelsior in Floriana.
It is a great base to explore the island from.
Hubby worked in Sliema so we did go there occasionally. We did try to avoid it. The dust was not healthy. Some days they closed streets… Maybe you were there much earlier when it wasn’t that bad yet.
