Good day community

Fantastic stories of dragons travel all over the planet as if it were a call to these strange and mythological animals. In this case it is also a similar story as in many other stories where dragons appear, it is about defeating them. It seems that man has a strange fixation on these powerful flying animals and breathes fire. In my city, a festival is also celebrated in honor of this fact, the festivity becomes joyful, the streets are filled with life and parades and thousands of colors and shapes surround this tour.

The colors of these strange animals are usually strong and in some cultures, in Asia in particular, they are afraid of the color red. Here in Europe they are more from the time of medieval knights, stories of princesses, of powerful warriors who face them. These animals wreak havoc in towns and cities, destroying everything in their path and the population's fear of them is enormous. Hence the idea or figure of a hero who defeats them.

The party becomes special when one of the most characteristic elements of these beings appears, fire. The ritual, the feat is not only about defeating him but about burning him before the contemplation of the people of the place. This makes the people's morale and admiration for these protectors much more intense and achieves its goal of creating a sense of security and arrogance on the part of the men's ability.

Many people throughout the year and in different scenarios, whether neighborhood groups, schools or others carefully prepare their dragons for that parade that takes place in the city. Also, as if it were carnival, they prepare their costumes as a troupe and accompany the dragons throughout the tour in the center of the city. The variety of dragons, shapes, colors and imagination can be seen these days in this special party. The elaboration of those wonderful different costumes that many people put on for this unique festivity is very impressive.

Finally, and as the final culmination of this festival, the chosen dragon is taken to the central square or main square of this beautiful city of Extremadura and is sacrificed in the fire, purifying and sending that message of power over the beast that intimidates the people. The flames do their work and the dragon is consumed between the ritual, the dance and the fire under the gaze of hundreds of people who watch the show. It really is something very special that happens once a year in my wonderful city, Cáceres.

Historias fantásticas de dragones recorren todo el planeta como si una llamada a estos extraños y mitológicos animales se tratase. En este caso es también una historia parecida como en otras muchas historias donde aparecen los dragones, se trata de vencerlos. Parece que el hombre tiene una extraña fijación por estos poderosos animales voladores y escupe fuegos. En mi ciudad también se celebra una fiesta en honor a este hecho, la festividad se torna alegre, las calles se llenan de vida y de desfiles y miles de colores y formas envuelven este recorrido.
Los colores de estos extraños animales suelen ser fuertes y en algunas culturas, en Asia en concreto, son temerosos del color rojo. Aquí en Europa son más de la época de los caballeros medievales, de historias de princesas, de poderoso guerreros que se enfrentan a ellos. Estos animales causan estragos en los pueblos y ciudades arrasando todo a su paso y el miedo de la población es enorme hacia ellos. De ahí que surge la idea o figura de un héroe que los vence.

La fiesta se torna especial cuando aparece uno de los elementos más característicos de estos seres, el fuego. El ritual, la hazaña no solo se trata de vencerlo sino de quemarlo ante la contemplación de las gentes del lugar. Esto hace que la moral de la gente y la admiración hacia estos protectores sea mucho más intensa y logra su objetivo de crear una sensación de seguridad y arrogancia por parte de la capacidad de los hombres.
Danzas, bailes, extraños movimientos con una especial magia , con un encanto único se pueden ver estos días de festividad. Al observar esto pienso que es una especie de ritual mezclado con arte y tradición y deja a todos los espectadores hipnotizados por sus movimientos y por su sonido. Tambores combinados con silencio rompen en la plaza el momento exacto de el encendido de las antorchas.
Muchas personas durante todo el año y en distintos escenarios, ya sea colectivos de barrios, colegios u otros preparan con esmero sus dragones para esa cabalgata que se produce en la ciudad. También, como si del carnaval se tratara, preparan sus trajes a modo de comparsa y acompañaran a los dragones por todo el recorrido en el centro de la ciudad. La variedad de dragones, formas, colores e imaginación se dejan ver estos días en esta especial fiesta. Impresiona mucho la elaboración de esos maravillosos trajes diferentes que muchas personas se ponen para esta singular festividad.

Por último y como colofón final de esta fiesta el dragón elegido es llevado a la plaza central o plaza mayor de esta hermosa ciudad extremeña y es sacrificado en el fuego purificando y enviando ese mensaje de poder sobre la bestia que amedrenta a las gentes. Las llamas hacen su trabajo y el dragón se va consumiendo entre el rito, el baile y el fuego bajo la mirada de cientos de personas que contemplan el espectáculo. Realmente es algo muy especial que ocurre una vez al año en mi maravillosa ciudad, Cáceres.
