Esta Zona Colonial es ideal para Fotografiar, en ella se pueden apreciar vistosas calles empedradas y antiguas casonas centenarias de grandes puertas y ventanas muy bien cuidadas en una extensión aproximada de ocho hectáreas; La mayoría de estas casonas pertenecen a los descendientes de las familias originarias y son habitadas por ellos, algunas de estas edificaciones tienen en su fachada una placa donde se puede leer información general de la misma.
This Colonial Zone it is ideal for Photographing, in it you can appreciate showy cobblestone streets and old centennial mansions of big doors and windows very well taken care of in an approximate extension of eight hectares; Most of these mansions belong to the descendants of the original families and are inhabited by them, some of these buildings have in their facade a plate where you can read general information of the same one.
Caminar por estas calles nos permiten retroceder en el tiempo: paredes anchas/altas adoquinadas de grandes ventanales, patios centrales y tejados antiguos, son testimonio tangible de una parte de la historia de nuestro país.
Walking through these streets allows us to go back in time: wide/high cobblestone walls with large windows, central courtyards and ancient roofs are tangible testimony of a part of our country's history.
Catedral de Carora 💒 Carora Cathedral
Justo en esta zona colonial nos encontramos con muchos de esos lugares emblemáticos que tanto caracterizan a este casco histórico y que obviamente teníamos que visitar:

La Catedral de la Diócesis de Carora, dedicada a San Juan Bautista, una iglesia construida a principios de los años 1600 con una fachada en blanco muy sencilla y limpia con una pequeña placa en su pared frontal que dice: "Iglesia Matriz de San Juan Bautista. Construida en el siglo XVII. En 1831 un incendio en la sacristía destruyó documentos de su fundación. Elevada a Catedral el 14.11.92", esta edificación junto a la capilla San Dionisio forman parte del Patrimonio Histórico de Venezuela.

Diagonal a esta Catedral está otra magnífica construcción que hoy alberga a la Biblioteca Riera Aguinagalde, mejor conocida como "La Casa Amarilla", el lugar cuenta con 3 balcones en su piso superior en donde se llevaron a cabo muchos acontecimientos ocurridos a lo largo de la historia.

Si continúas caminando, muy cerca de este lugar te consigues con otra estructura que forma parte del pasado de la ciudad y es joya arquitectónica del “barroco hispanoamericano”: La Capilla del Calvario, la cual data del Siglo XVIII, siendo una de las más antiguas del Estado Lara y que fue declarada Monumento Histórico Nacional el 2 de agosto de 1960. Acá la vemos plasmada en uno de los cuadros de un restaurante que visitamos:
If you continue walking, very close to this place you get another structure that is part of the past of the city and is an architectural jewel of the "Hispanic American Baroque": The Calvary Chapel, which dates from the eighteenth century, being one of the oldest in the State of Lara and was declared a National Historic Monument on August 2, 1960. Here we see it captured in one of the paintings of a restaurant we visited:
Esta capilla está dedicada a la Santa Cruz, y en su fachada tiene las tres cruces (que representan las cruces del calvario), creo que una de las cosas que más resalta es su cúspide con acabado en “agudas aletas” que asemejan la figura de unos cuernos. En este lugar entendí el refrán local que dice: “en Carora quien no tiene cachos, tiene cola”
This chapel is dedicated to the Holy Cross, and on its façade it has the three crosses (representing the crosses of Calvary), I think one of the things that stands out the most is its cusp finished with "sharp fins" that resemble the figure of horns. In this place I understood the local saying that goes: "en Carora quien no tiene cachos, tiene cola ".
Venir a Carora y recorrer su Zona Colonial es definitivamente como viajar en el tiempo, aparte que las excelentes tomas fotográficas que salen desde acá son increíbles, como he mencionado anteriormente no soy fotógrafo profesional, pero si un amante de este arte. Tampoco tengo cámara profesional, todas las imágenes que vieron fueron tomadas desde mi teléfono celular.
Coming to Carora and touring its Colonial Zone is definitely like traveling back in time, besides the excellent photographic shots that come out from here are incredible, as I mentioned before I am not a professional photographer, but I am a lover of this art. I don't have a professional camera either, all the images you saw were taken from my cell phone.
