Hello everyone,

This post is going be be about macro photography using only mobile phone camera. I am going to tell you about my ways to capture those close up shots, and I’ll be sharing some secrets of creating that shallow depth of field using only mobile phone camera.

I have an iPhone 11, all the photographs are captured using that only. These photos are not edited in any software. These are straight out of camera photographs.

The first thing that is needed to capture a macro photograph is finding the minimum distance that your phone’s camera can clearly focus. Do not worry about creating a frame first. First of all focus on the minimum focal length.

The next thing is to fix that focus. We can do that by long touching on the subject we are focusing on. This will leave everything blurred other than the subjects within the minimum focused focal length.

Now, try to frame the photographs. Do not change focus or your mobile’s camera will struggle to focus again.

You can have some great results only using your phone’s camera. You have to carefully adjust your phone to the subject you want to focus upon. It’s a matter of a few centimetres or sometimes millimetres that governs the quality of the macro photograph.

You can experiment with various subjects. A distant background gives a shallower depth of field. We can also create bokeh balls in the night time using this trick.

BONUS TIP:-
Zoom in a little bit to make depth of field shallower. Be careful not to zoom in so much that the quality of the photograph gets destroyed.

These are really beautiful photos. I can't do this with my smartphone, but I'll keep practicing. The photo I liked the most is the one on the cover, they inspire me tranquility and stillness.

Nice photos!

Hello @parvkhuller I like the water on the figs. The close up is amazing seeing the rich maroon color of the fruit. I'm thinking it's a fig if I remember correctly.

I think that in your post you have to state the type of camera you used.

Nice photos. Thanks for sharing.
