In the forest

This weekend was quite rich for me from a photographic point of view. I attended some interesting events, but when I promised you nature, you get nature.

It's the time of year when the bear garlic blooms. This plant has a dual use: sometime a month or six weeks ago the first leaves sprouted, and that's the best time to harvest. Many housewives have a year's supply of bear's pesto preserved and frozen from that time.

So the first benefit is for the kitchen and the second is aesthetic: the flowering bear garlic is now making thick white carpets in the woods.

Tento víkend byl pro mě z fotografického pohledu celkem bohatý. Zúčastnil jsem se několika zajímavých akcí, ale když jsem vám slíbil přírodu, dostanete přírodu.

Je období, kdy kvete medvědí česnek. Tahle rostlina má dvojí využití: někdy před měsícem nebo šesti týdny vyrašily první listy, a to je nejlepší období pro sběr. Spousta hospodyněk má z té doby zavařené a zamražené zásoby medvědího pesta na celý rok.

Takže ten první užitek je kuchyňský a ten druhý je estetický: kvetoucí medvědí česnek teď dělá v lesích husté bílé koberce.

Carpets of bear garlic seemed to overshadow the other flowers. But I found some anyway. I won't even try to translate the names into English. After all, this is not a science blog. For me, it's the visual impression that's important.

Koberce medvědího česneku jakoby zastínily ostatní květiny. Ale i tak jsem nějaké našel: žlutá hluchavka, kakost, zběhovec... O překlad názvů do angličtiny se ani nebudu pokoušet. Ostatně, tohle není přírodovědecký blog. Pro mě je důležitý vizuální dojem.

I didn't forget the representatives of fauna - I met ducks and a snail.

Nezapomněl jsem ani na zástupce fauny - cestou jsem potkal kachny a slimáka.

I discovered a road in the woods that I had never taken before. Where does it lead? It was a fairly wide path with truck tracks, so I figured it must lead out of the woods somewhere.

Unfortunately, I was wrong.

The road gradually narrowed, eventually it was just a narrow path and it ended at a hunter's stand.

I didn't want to go back, so my way out of the woods became slightly convoluted, but eventually I made it out. Fortunately we are not in the jungle, our forests are not very large.

Objevil jsem v lese jednu cestu, kterou jsem ještě nikdy nešel. Kam asi vede? Byla to celkem široká cesta se stopami nákladního vozu, tak jsem si říkal, že musí vést někudy z lesa ven.

Bohužel jsem se mýlil.

Cesta se postupně zužovala, nakonec to byla jen úzká pěšina a ta končila u mysliveckého posedu.

Vracet jsem se nechtěl, tak se moje cesta z lesa lehce zkomplikovala, ale nakonec jsem se ven dostal. Naštěstí nejsme v džungli, naše lesy nejsou příliš rozlehlé.
