Low key tattoo

There's a Czech phrase that goes "jít s kůží na trh ‒ go to market with your skin" ‒ literally meaning to take a risk, to put yourself out there. In English, we might say you're "sticking your neck out". But in this case, that phrase applies literally: the model is actually going to photography with real skin.

For these shots, I used a photographic technique called low key, which works great across multiple genres ‒ product photography, fashion (more artistic than commercial), fine art, body art. And that's what I'm attempting here. Low key brings out definition, creates that dramatic, almost mysterious feel, and in body art it's especially effective for shooting the male form. It adds that raw, gritty quality. The catch is, it doesn't just highlight what you want ‒ it also brings out every imperfection you'd rather hide. It's not easy 😊.

I have to admit, as a photographer I had some real doubts about these shots. During the shoot itself ‒ positioning, angles, lighting, shadows ‒ and then again at the computer during editing. Whether it's enough, whether it's too much... I bounced some ideas off AI, got feedback from random viewers. And honestly, I'd welcome your thoughts in the comments too.

I should also mention this isn't really my lane. If you look through my portfolio, you'll find mostly birds and insects rather than bold models. But here's the thing ‒ you never know until you try. Sometimes you have to step out of your warm nest, leave that comfort zone behind. 👍

I agree on saying you’ll never know until you try 👌. Besides, there’s no harm in trying and maybe you can also excel on those things you are afraid of.

Exactly. If it works, you gain something, and if it doesn't, you haven't really lost anything (maybe just a little dignity, lol 😊).

Agree yeah! 👌 also everything can be learned as long as your heart and mind is willing too.
