Take a walk with me in the Julian Alps.

Julian Alps stretch over the northeastern Italy and northwestern Slovenia.
Because they’re on the southern side of the whole Alpine area, they get enough sun, warmth and rain-bearing clouds from the Mediterranean to support lush vegetation - as you can see in the photos, the mountains are covered in grass almost to the top, at around 2200m altitude.
This is also the most rainy area of the whole country as all the clouds that come from the seaside stop here - you can get a glimpse from the first photo.

These areas are really popular with hikers and paragliders. They offer plenty of hiking trails with beautiful views over the valleys.

If you’re into hiking, there’s an awesome website that lays out all hiking trails across 24 countries that are the most popular for these activities.
The page is called Hike.uno, I’ve used it a lot to plan my trips around Slovenia and it’s really reliable.
The content is sort of crowd sourced, basically added by hikers themselves, and every trip includes detailed information; so you know what to expect, what to watch out for and which equipment to take.
You can choose the area, filter by time of walking, starting point, difficulty and many other details.
I hope someone finds it useful, I really recommend it. Maybe you’ll find an idea for the upcoming weekend.
Take care!
Thanks for the wonderful photos and comprehensive information, @penticton!
I held my breath looking at the second photo. :)
"I held my breath as we do sometimes to stop time when something wonderful has touched us..."
