The Colibrí thalassinus, whose common name is the Mexican violetear, is another of the beautiful birds that can be found in the mountains of Costa Rica. In the San Gerado de Dota area, where I photographed this specimen, you can find 5 other species of hummingbirds, some of them endemic to Costa Rica.
That IS simply beautiful.

Amazing, crisp shots! I love the Colibri. we have a very similar bird here in Israel, of the same family but a bit different, they are so beautiful!
Stunning!!! What a beautiful hummingbird, those colors are so magical.
My favorite birds, you can take 10 pictures of the same hummingbird and they will never be the same, the colors vary slightly with changes in light.
