In these ruins begins the malecon. I took these photos in the coastal town of Playa Baracoa, the place where I work and love to come and enjoy the sea. It was a wintry day and it was raining constantly and the wind was pushing the clouds and the waves of the sea with force.
I like to photograph these ruins left by time, worn by the sea.
The boardwalk stretches between the houses and the sea, like a sort of protective wall.
As I walk along I can already take perspective pictures of the beginning of the boardwalk. The cloudy and gray sky, the sea also gray with furious waves, it looks like a place of some Nordic coast.
This is the first house I meet on the way and also the perspective of the street that borders the boardwalk and is an obligatory route for buses, cycles and cars. ....
Due to the marine penetrations, houses are built on stilts to avoid flooding when the tide rises due to hurricanes and bad weather. It is precisely these storms that have destroyed many houses built on the coast.

It rained constantly, but I did not stop my pace, looking for new approaches for my photos and enjoying the strength of the waves.

Houses near the sea deteriorate faster. The humidity and saltpeter decomposes the steel structures and bursts the walls. There are those who refuse to leave because they were born there and love that life. During cyclones and hurricanes the water level rises and reaches the other side of the street causing severe flooding.
In all this part of the coast there are irregular rocks with many sharp and cutting slopes, which we call "Teeth of the Dog".
And to take many of these images I walked on the houndstooth so I could get close to the sea and capture its impressive gray beauty. It was a wonderful spectacle to see the force of the waves beating against the shore, to feel the wind crashing against my body and the persistent rain that at times forced me to take refuge in a corner.
Yesterday we had another gray day with lots of rain. But the Caribbean Sea immediately regains its beautiful navy blue. Here ended my safari along the coast. There was still a little bit left to walk along the seafront, but the houses did not allow me to walk close to the sea. I then directed the lens towards the distance to discover that the sea refused the nostalgia of the gray and created white foam, vibrant and jovial, to tell me that it is still alive....

Esta es la primera casa que me encuentro en el camino y también la perspectiva de la calle que bordea el malecón y es ruta obligatoria de autobuses, ciclos y autos....
Debido a las penetraciones marinas se usa construir las casas sobre pilotes para evitar las inundaciones cuando suben la marea producto de huracanes y mal tiempo. Son precisamente esos temporales los han acabado con muchas casas que se eregian en la costa.
Una foto en perspectiva hacia atrás de mis pasos. Como pueden ver en esa casa , muchos vecinos cubren las paredes de sus casas con lozas de piedra o mármol para evitar el desgaste del salitre marino.
Llovia constantemente, pero no detuve mi paso, buscando nuevos enfoques para mis fotos y disfrutando de la fuerza del oleaje.
Las casas que están cerca del mar se deterioran más rápido. La humedad y el salitre descompone las estructuras de acero y revienta las paredes. Hay quienes se niegan a marcharse pues allí nacieron y aman esa vida. Durante los ciclones y huracanes el nivel del agua sube y llega hasta el otro lado de la calle provocando severas inundaciones.
En toda esta parte de la costa hay rocas irregulares con muchos desniveles filosos y cortantes, que nosotros les decimos "Dientes de Perro".
Y para tomar muchas de estas imágenes caminé sobre el diente de perro así pude acercarme al mar y logré capturar su impresionante belleza gris. Era un espectáculo maravilloso ver la fuerza de las olas batiendo contra la orilla.Sentir el viento chocando con mi cuerpo y la pertinaz lluvia que a ratos me obligaba a refugiarme en algún rincón.
Ayer tuvimos otro día gris con mucha lluvia. Pero el Mar Caribe inmediatamente recupera su hermoso azul marino. Aquí terminó mi safari por la costa. Aún quedaba otro poco para recorrer completo el malecón, pero ya las casas no me permitían caminar pegado al mar. Dirigí entonces el lente hacia la lejanía para descubrir que el mar se negaba a la nostalgia del gris y creaba espuma blanca, vibrante y jovial, para decirme que sigue vivo....
