Courtship show of noticed white Leptidea species complex. I was once fortunate adequate to see a courtship show of the Inkspot Whites.At first male and lady sat going through every other, with the male over and over stretching out his trunk and the lady with it touched. It appeared like a fisherman casting out his fishing line.
Then a rival got here flying, and now the fantastic factor happened: The rival grabbed the male via the wings from at the back of and tried to pull him away!! You can see it very nicely in the photos.
He tried twice! When it did not work, he simply joined them and additionally commenced "throwing out" his trunk at the female. He was once too a ways away to contact her, however he likely did not care. The girl appeared to revel in the caresses, sitting nevertheless the total time. I was once so mesmerized by means of the sight. The two adult males constantly took turns stretching out their trunks! Eventually, first one, then the different male flew away. The girl followed.
