After shooting the sunrise at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe yesterday, I decided to turn my camera away from the lake and toward Eagle Falls. It was covered in ice and looking incredible. Fortunately, I had my spiked crampons for my boots with me, I would NOT recommend anyone go to this area in these conditions without proper footgear. It was frozen solid down there, the crampons made it feel like I was walking on granite rock in the summer time.
Eagle Falls is one of the bigger waterfalls in the Tahoe area. It can become just a trickle in the fall but it looks like it will be flowing strong for a while, we have a lot of snow up here right now.

I also had fun shooting close up scenes of the falls and ice. I've always liked images like these and I thought the ice added a nice touch.

These photos were all shot with a Canon 5DSr and a 24-105mm lens. A tripod was used for all of the images as they were all longer exposures, about 3 to .5 of a second long. The longer exposure is what makes the waterfalls get that silky smooth look.
Than you for looking and I hope you all have a great weekend. Cheers!

Long exposures of waterfalls are always magic.
Indeed. Add some frozen water on top of it and BAM! I like it.
You got some cool shots in this one! Thanks for sharing.
"Cool" indeed... Thank you for sharing it!
Very very white 😃
Fortunately, the snow and ice around there was still very white indeed. The snow is looking a lot dirtier in my yard. We need a fresh layer of snow soon...
Fresh snow again)
