Picnic at my godfather's place

Today was one of those beautiful, sunny, and hot spring days.
The temperature in the sun went up to 28°C, so we decided to have a picnic at my godfather’s place.
He came from Zagreb on vacation to our part of Dalmatia, where he bought a small plot of land and placed a little house on it, which we haven’t finished yet — but we will soon.

We’re all helping him with it — friends and the whole family.

This time, after finishing some work, we decided to relax a bit.
So, my godfather made a small improvised barbecue using stones and placed a grill rack on top, where he grilled meat, sausages, mushrooms, onions, all sorts of things... it was amazing and delicious, just like our elders used to eat.

We were waiting for a truck to deliver three large water tanks, each with a capacity of 1,000 liters.
There’s no running water on the land, so tomorrow the fire brigade will come and fill them up for around 30 euros total — that way, he’ll have 3,000 liters of drinking water.

For now, we had to drink store-bought juices, and of course, cold gemišt (a mix of wine and sparkling water) and beer.

Since he has a friend who is a representative for Ožujsko beer in Croatia, he brought some beers they get for free once promotions end.
There were even some leftover Christmas edition beers, which you can see in the photo.

While waiting for the truck with the tanks, my son and I went foraging around the area and found a decent amount of wild asparagus — perfect for dinner with hard-boiled eggs and olive oil.

It was a lovely and relaxing day in every way.
