How long will we have to take to the streets to get justice? How long will corruption take lives, how long will we watch everything collapse – literally and figuratively?
With every protest, every day, more and more people are unwilling to remain silent. Serbia rose up because 15 innocent people lost their lives due to looting and arrogance. The canopy of the reconstructed train station collapsed, although 3 million euros were earmarked for its reconstruction, and in the end 16 million were paid. Where did the 13 million disappear to? How much more money needs to be stolen, how many more people need to die before those responsible are finally punished?
Why are people taking to the streets?
These protests are not just because of this tragedy – they are because of all of us. This is not an isolated case, this is just another in a series of tragedies that are a consequence of systemic corruption.
🔴 For whom and what are we protesting?
For all the lives lost in accidents that could have been prevented.
For the school massacres that shook the country because the system did not react in time.
For the arrogant drivers who kill on the streets and go unpunished.
For the citizens who live every day in fear of negligence and corruption.
For the judiciary that covers up cases and allows the powerful to remain above the law.
For the students, the young people who no longer want to flee the country because they see no future here.
This is not just a protest - this is a fight for basic human rights, for security, for justice that belongs to all of us. The people have risen up because they can no longer remain silent.
Student demands - the voice of the youth that will not be silenced
Students have joined the protests en masse, because they are aware that without a change in the system, there is no future for them in Serbia. Their demands are clear:
📢 1. More investment in education, less in corruption
While millions of euros flow into the pockets of politicians and their associates, universities are suffocating from a lack of funding. Student dormitories are in a catastrophic state, faculties lack adequate equipment, and young people are forced to study in conditions that are far below 21st century standards.
📢 2. Depoliticization of the education system
The criteria for selecting professors and deans depend less and less on expertise, and more and more on political suitability. Young people do not want faculties where party membership is more important than knowledge and work.
📢 3. Dignified living and working conditions for young people in Serbia
Students demand higher scholarships, more jobs after graduation, and an end to the practice of the best staff immediately moving abroad because they have no opportunity, security, or justice here.
📢 4. Security and justice for all young people in Serbia
After numerous tragic events in which young people lost their lives, security is required in schools, at universities, on the streets. The issue of security is no longer a matter of individual cases – it is a systemic problem.
How much is corruption costing us?
Everyone who lives in Serbia knows that there is theft at every turn – from public tenders, infrastructure projects, to basic necessities of life. But the price of corruption is not only in millions of euros that disappear – its real price is human lives.
Hospitals without basic equipment, while money is transferred to private pockets.
Roads that are crumbling and killing people because they are built with the cheapest materials.
Train stations that collapse on passengers because someone took a commission.
Corruption is killing us. Literally.
What's next?
The government is counting on people to forget, to get tired, to die down the protests. But Serbia has been silent for too long. Now there is no turning back. Every step out into the street is a step closer to justice. Every banner, every raised fist is a clear message – WE WILL NOT STOP.
No one has the right to say: “It’s not my problem.”
Because if we remain silent today, tomorrow one of our people may suffer because of the same system.
This is not just a fight for justice for 15 lost lives – this is a fight for a future without corruption, without fear, without preventable bloody tragedies.
We continue. We do not give up. Because we have no other choice. ✊

This one says that parents don't send their children to school, because without children there is no teaching, thus the school collapses.
