On the last day of September, a Saturday, I went hiking again to get to know a new place. This activity was organized by the mayor's office of the city of La Victoria, Aragua state (Venezuela), in commemoration of World Tourism Day.
El último día de septiembre, un sábado, me fui nuevamente de excursión para conocer un nuevo lugar. Esta actividad la organizó la alcaldía de la ciudad de La Victoria, estado Aragua (Venezuela), en conmemoración del Día Mundial del Turismo.
The departure time was at 7:00 in the morning starting from Plaza Las Madres, as people were arriving, we left a little later. The organizers told us a little about how the route would be and what we were going to find there.
La hora de salida era a las 7:00 de la mañana partiendo de la Plaza Las Madres, mientras iba llegando la gente, salimos un rato después. Los organizadores nos hablaron un poco sobre cómo sería la ruta y qué íbamos a encontrarnos por allí.
The morning was cool and the sky was clear, which was fortunate, because it has been raining a lot lately, more than usual.
La mañana estaba fresca y el cielo despejado, una suerte, porque ha llovido mucho últimamente, más de lo normal.
The route of this 7 km hike was going to take us to the north of La Victoria, we went up Anselmo Cerro street and arrived at Barrio Jesus, this is the road that leads to Colonia Tovar, the famous German village located in these mountains.
La ruta de esta caminata de 7 Km nos iba a llevar hacia el norte de La Victoria, subimos por la calle Anselmo Cerro y llegamos al Barrio Jesús, esta es la carretera que conduce a la Colonia Tovar, el famoso pueblo alemán situado por estas montañas.
Although it was still early and Saturday, there was quite a lot of movement in the neighborhood, many people greeted us as we passed in front of their houses.
Aunque era temprano aún y sábado, había bastante movimiento en el barrio, mucha gente nos saludaba al pasar frente a sus casas.
A few minutes later we pass by La Victoria Electric Substation, without a doubt that series of towers, cables, etc., contrast with the mountainous landscape in the background.
Unos minutos después pasamos junto a la Subestación Eléctrica La Victoria, sin duda esa serie de torres, cables, etc., contrastan con el paisaje montañoso del fondo.
As we advance, the environment becomes more rural, there are all kinds of crops, you can see banana plants, corn, sugar cane, fruit trees, chickens and other livestock.
A medida que avanzamos, el entorno se vuelve más rural, por aquí hay sembradíos de todo tipo, puedes ver matas de cambur (banana), maíz, caña, árboles frutales, gallinas y otros animales de cría.
On this route you will always see the mountains to your left, at this time of the year they are super green and look spectacular.
En esta ruta siempre vas viendo las montañas a tu izquierda, en esta época están súper verdes y lucen espectaculares.
The little houses or small sheds made of mud still exist in these rural areas, as it is in many parts of Venezuela, this material brings freshness to the interiors of the constructions.
Las casitas o pequeños galpones hechos con barro aún existen en estas zonas rurales, así es en muchas partes de Venezuela, este material aporta frescura a los interiores de las construcciones.
Further ahead suddenly appeared one of the places that we were told we were going to see along the way, it was the old aqueduct ditch of La Victoria. I had passed this road before, but I'd never seen it, perhaps it was hidden by the undergrowth.
Más adelante apareció de repente uno de los lugares que nos dijeron íbamos a ver por el camino, se trata de la antigua acequia de acueducto de La Victoria. Yo había pasado antes por esta vía, pero nunca lo había visto, quizás estaba oculto por la maleza.
I loved it! I would have liked to go up there, but I couldn't stop at that moment, I had to continue the walk, however I hope to pay it an exclusive visit soon. This historic monument dates back to 1875 and was built with bricks and stones with mortar.
¡Me encantó! Hubiese querido subir por allí, pero no podía detenerme en ese momento, debía seguir la caminata, sin embargo espero hacerle una visita exclusiva pronto. Este monumento histórico data de 1875 y fue construido con ladrillos y piedras con argamasa.
We continued and a few minutes later we reached the Quebrada de Apa sector, and then the detour that led us to our goal, Hacienda Las Sabanetas. I remembered that I had come to this area before, but the excursion had been to another place.
Seguimos y unos minutos después llegamos al sector Quebrada de Apa, y después al desvío que nos condujo hasta nuestra meta, la Hacienda Las Sabanetas. Recordé que yo había venido antes a esta zona, pero la excursión había sido hacia otro lugar.
We had been told that we had to cross a river when we entered the dirt road, some people took off their shoes, I was really lazy, and I went like that, I didn't mind getting them wet 😆.
Nos habían dicho que teníamos que cruzar un río al adentrarnos por el camino de tierra, algunas personas se quitaron los zapatos, a mi me dio flojera la verdad, y pasé así, no me importó mojarlos 😆.
Now we were totally in an agricultural area, we saw some workers walking around and others moving around on motorcycles, there are several farms here, the landscape is beautiful and serene.
Ahora sí estábamos totalmente en zona agrícola, vimos algunos trabajadores caminando por allí y otros desplazándose en motos, hay varias haciendas por aquí, el paisaje es bellísimo y sereno.
When we reached a point, someone from the organizing team was there to tell us that the road continued through a detour between crops, and we went through there, there was a rich smell of grass in the air.
Al llegar a un punto, alguien del equipo organizador estaba allí para indicarnos que el camino seguía por un desvío entre sembradíos, y por allí nos metimos, había en el ambiente un rico olor a pasto.
And a few meters ahead we came across the entrance gate of Hacienda Las Sabanetas.
Y unos metros más adelante nos topamos con la puerta de entrada de la Hacienda Las Sabanetas.
As you crossed it you could already see the old mansion in the background, in total it took me about an hour and 10 minutes to complete this 7 km hike.
Al atravesarla ya podías ver la vieja casona al fondo, en total me tomó como una hora y 10 minutos completar esta caminata de 7 Km.
At the front of the house there was a large table full of fruit, watermelon, bananas and oranges, as well as water for those who needed it.
En el frente de la casa nos esperaba un mesón lleno de frutas, había patilla (sandía), cambures (bananas) y naranjas, también agua para el que necesitara.
I grabbed all those fruits to hydrate myself and sat down for a while to rest while I observed the place, it is a pretty big hacienda, then I went inside to see what was there, I was surprised.
Agarré de todas esas frutas para hidratarme y me senté un rato a descansar mientras observaba el lugar, es una hacienda bastante grande, luego entré para ver qué había, quedé sorprendida.
Although this property is private, they receive visitors, and there is a lot to see, they have a lot of antiques displayed in the different areas of the house. The information we were given about the place is that Hacienda Las Sabanetas has more than 200 years of history (dating from the end of the 18th century), there sugar cane was planted and processed.
Aunque esta propiedad es privada, reciben visitas, y hay mucho para ver, tienen una gran cantidad de antigüedades exhibidas en los diferentes espacios de la casa. La información que nos dieron del lugar es que la Hacienda Las Sabanetas tiene más de 200 años de historia (data de finales del siglo XVIII), allí se sembraba y procesaba la caña de azúcar.
On the walls of the main room are the portraits of several people, from different periods, I guess they are some of its former owners or residents. At present, several workers live in this house, who are in charge of its maintenance and of the agricultural work that still takes place in these lands.
En las paredes de la sala principal están los retratos de varias personas, de diferentes épocas, supongo que son algunos de sus antiguos propietarios o residentes. Actualmente viven en esta casa varios trabajadores, quienes se encargan de mantenerla y de las labores agrícolas que aún se desarrollan en estas tierras.

In another of the rooms surrounding the courtyard is the oven, which despite its age is still active. There was also a more modern kitchen in another of the rooms.
En otra de las habitaciones que rodean el patio se encuentra el horno, que a pesar de su antigüedad continúa activo. También había una cocina más moderna en otra de las salas.
Among other curious objects in the courtyard, the most striking is undoubtedly the old bathtub, I immediately imagined myself relaxing there with hot water 😊.
Entre otros curiosos objetos del patio, sin duda lo más llamativo es la vieja bañera, inmediatamente me imaginé relajándome allí con agua caliente 😊.
This private property is included in the Venezuelan Cultural Heritage Catalog, and the mayor's office of the municipality of José Félix Ribas, to which it belongs, must ensure its protection. As can be seen, it needs a complete restoration, something that is quite costly.
Esta propiedad privada se encuentra dentro del Catálogo del Patrimonio Cultural Venezolano, y la alcaldía del municipio José Félix Ribas, al que pertenece, debe velar por su protección. Como se puede observar, le hace falta una restauración integral, algo que es bastante costoso.
Let's move now to another area of the house, it is near the courtyard. There are more objects there, I didn't know what some of them were, others looked like hanging lamps.
Pasemos ahora a otra de las áreas de la casa, está cerca del patio. Allí hay más objetos, no supe qué eran algunos de ellos, otros parecían lámparas colgantes.
Through the door that you see in the photo above, you go out to this other patio, there the abandonment is almost total, at least there are some papaya bushes full of fruit there.
Por la puerta que ven en la foto de arriba, sales hacia este otro patio, allí el abandono es casi total, por lo menos hay unas matas de lechosa (papaya) llenas de fruta ahí.
As you walk further you come across a structure that anyone would think was a swimming pool, but no, I think it was more like a water tank, since it has a channel.
Al caminar más allá te consigues con una estructura que cualquiera diría era una piscina, pero no, creo que era más bien un depósito de agua, ya que cuenta con un canal.
I suppose they also kept the animals here, since there are some fenced parts, it didn't seem to be in use now.
Supongo que aquí guardaban también a los animales, ya que hay unas partes cercadas, no parecía estar en uso ahora.
Look at these roofs, they appear to be the originals, I love the vegetation that has grown there.
Miren estos techos, parecen ser los originales, me encanta la vegetación que ha crecido allí.

When I ended the tour of the interior and courtyards of the house, I returned to the entrance to take some more shots of the facade and surroundings.
Al finalizar el recorrido por el interior y los patios de la casona, volví a la entrada para hacer algunas tomas más de la fachada y los alrededores.
In front of the house, a few meters away, there is an old iron cart and beyond it is the sugar mill, also abandoned and surrounded by weeds.
Frente a la casa, a unos cuantos metros, hay una vieja carreta de hierro y más allá se ve el trapiche, también abandonado y rodeado de maleza.
The activity ended with a dance therapy for those who wanted to participate, and then we went back to the road, where we took a bus back to the city. Until the next adventure!

Me encantó este post. La hacienda deja ver claramente su antigüedad y por alguna razón ese tipo de lugares me parecen hermosos, tienen algo que siempre me llama la atención por lo que me gusta mucho ver sitios así.
