Bitcoin Adventure A Pictorial Journey from Winnipeg to Vancouver

in Photography Lovers3 months ago

It was the summer of 2017, a friend and I embarked on an unforgettable journey from Winnipeg to Vancouver, fueled by spontaneity and our shared love for adventure. Packed into his new Chevy truck were my bike, a few clothes, and the revolutionary currency of Bitcoin, which we had both embraced as early adopters. When we left Winnipeg the price of one BTC was $3200 USD.

Our travel philosophy was simple: embrace the digital age fully. With minimal cash in hand that was exchanged for BTC, I relied solely on Bitcoin for our expenses, confident in my ability to convert cryptocurrency to cash thanks to a Bitcoin debit card that I could transfer BTC onto during the vacation. Our leisurely pace allowed for impromptu photo shoots along the way, as we were armed with our Nikon SLR gear, ready to capture the essence of our journey.

Amidst our travels, an unexpected opportunity arose when @daveks (an amazing artist with a camera) from Steemit invited me to judge a photo contest—an honour I gladly accepted. It was a delightful interlude in our adventure, adding a creative dimension to our trip. I was active on Steemit at the time and blogged some of the encounters of the journey.

Our itinerary included reunions with loved ones, with visits planned to see my daughter and sister. Upon reaching Vancouver, my friend and I would part ways temporarily, giving us ample time to explore the city independently. I cherished every moment biking around Vancouver with my daughter and her friends, soaking in the sights and sounds of this bustling metropolis.

As we traversed the scenic landscapes of western Canada, Bitcoin was on a remarkable bull run, steadily increasing in value each day. Remarkably, our vacation became not just an adventure but a profitable venture, with Bitcoin rewarding us for our holiday expenditures. It was a surreal experience, traveling with a currency that not only facilitated our journey but also enriched it in unforeseen ways.

By the time we returned to Winnipeg, we had accumulated not just memories but also substantial value, albeit with a slightly diminished Bitcoin stash. Yet, the wealth of experiences we gained far outweighed any monetary gains. Our Bitcoin-fueled odyssey had come full circle, leaving us with a treasure trove of memories to cherish for a lifetime. At the end of the journey Bitcoin was trading at $4,400 USD.
