It seems the grey heron has a wide range across the world. I think we get a couple of other types here, but I have seen lots of greys. I'm not a proper 'birder' as I don't keep a list of all the birds I've seen.

I tried an app recently that can recognise birds from their song. Clever stuff, but I don't know if herons sing.

Oh yes, the grey heron is all over, and my list is in my memory :D

Now that you mention it, I have also never heard one of the herons sing, as I think that they can only squawk.
