Good day, friends of light and other crazy things. If you follow my posts here on Hive regularly, you've probably already guessed what today's article is about. Yes, that's right, the weather was once again so scary that I hid away in my little home studio. If I didn't know better, you'd think I lived in the rainforest. Almost always bad weather. But don't worry, today the sun is shining while I'm writing this. I'll take advantage of this rare moment today and spend a Light Painting night in the fresh air. 😇
Guten Tag, Freunde des Lichts und anderer verrückter Sachen. Wer meine Beiträge hier auf Hive regelmäßig verfolgt, ahnt bestimmt schon worum es in dem heutigen Artikel geht. Ja genau, das Wetter war mal wieder so gruselig, dass ich mich in mein kleines Heimstudio verkrochen habe. Wenn ich es nicht besser wüßte, könnte man meinen, dass ich im Regenwald wohne. Fast immer mieses Wetter. Aber keine Sorge heute scheint aktuell mal die Sonne, während ich hier schreibe. Diesen seltenen Moment nutze ich heute und werde mal einen Lifght Painting Nacht an der frischen Luft verbringen.
After making myself comfortable with coffee and music, the theme on this rainy day was "Hip Hop Dancer". The day before, I had already cut out and prepared the stencil.
Nachdem ich es mir mit Kaffee und Musik gemütlich gemacht habe, war das Motto an diesem Regentag der "Hip Hop Tänzer". Am Vortag hatte ich bereits die Schablone ausgeschnitten und prepariert.

At the beginning I had no real idea what to do with the stencil of the dancer. After a few hours, a picture idea slowly developed.
I created the "columns" around the dancer with another stencil. I zoomed the circular template and then rotated the camera on my CRT (Camera Rotation Tool) around the optical axis. I did this procedure a total of 8 times (8x 45°).
Zu Beginn hatte ich noch keine so richtige Idee, was ich mit der Schablone des Tänzers anfangen soll. Nach ein paar Stunden entwickelte sich so langsam eine Bildidee.
Die "Säulen" um den Tänzer habe ich mit einer weiteren Schablone umgesetzt. Dabei habe ich die Kreisschablone gezoomt und anschließend die Kamera auf meinem CRT (Camera Rotation Tool) um die optische Achse gedreht. Diese Prozedur habe ich insgesamt 8 mal durchgeführt (8x 45°).

As a last step I used effect paper to eliminate the black in the shot. The paper was placed in front of the camera and illuminated from the side with a small, low-light source.
Als letzten Arbeitsschritt habe ich dann Effektpapier eingesetzt, um das viele schwarz im Bild zu eleminieren. Das Papier wurde vor der Kamera platziert und seitlich mit einer kleinen, lichtschwachen Lichtquelle angeleuchtet.

The preliminary work / alignment of the individual picture elements is an important part before I start the actual exposure. The more precisely you work here, the fewer failed attempts there are. In this shot, for once, I didn't tread on the tripod with my feet.😂
Die Vorarbeit / Ausrichtung der einzelnen Bildelemente ist ein wichtiger Teil bevor ich die eigentliche Belichtung starte. Je genau man hier arbeitet, desto weniger Fehlversuche gibt es. Bei diesem Bild habe ich ausnahmsweise auch mal nicht das Stativ mit meinen Füßen getreten. 😂

Unfortunately, I didn't have a model for this picture idea, so one of my collectible figures (about 20 cm tall) had to serve as a cheap and willing model. I also used an old mirror, a bit of fog and a plexiglass blade. I hope I still have to mention that I used various torches and a camera. No light painting without a camera and light!
Für diese Bildidee hatte ich leider kein Model, also musste einer meiner Sammelfiguren (ca. 20 cm groß) als billiges und williges Model herhalten. Außerdem kam ein alter Spiegel, ein wenig Nebel, sowie ein Blade aus Plexiglas zum Einsatz. Das ich diverse Taschenlampen und eine Kamer abenutzt habe, muss ich hoffentlich noch erwähnen. Ohne Kamera und Licht kein Light Painting!

To make the light beam visible above the model, I used an e-cigarette. I equipped the torch with a neon yellow colour filter. Thanks @lichtkunstfoto for the great colour filter(s).
The bluish light traces outside were created with a blade on a rotation tool. However, the camera was aligned in such a way that I only ever have the front part of the blade track in the shot and not the complete (circular) rotation of the blade. I then covered the lens and rotated the camera 45° around the optical axis and repeated the procedure. At the top and bottom, I left out the light tracks of the blade, because that is where the light beam hitting the model is in the shot.
Um den Lichtstrahl über dem Model sichtbar zu machen, habe ich eine E-Zigarette genutzt. Die Taschenlampe habe ich mit einem neongelben Farbfilter bestückt. Danke @lichtkunstfoto für den/die tollen Farbfilter.
Die bläulichen Lichtspuren ausßen wurden mit einem Blade auf einer Drehhilfe erzeugt. Die Kamera war allerdings so ausgerichtet, dass ich immer nur den vorderen Teil der Blade-Spur im Bild habe und nicht die komplette (kreisrunde) Drehung des Blades. Anschließend habe ich das Objektiv abgedeckt und die Kamera um 45° um die optische Achse gedreht und die Prodzedur wiederholt. Oben und unten habe ich die Lichtspuren des Blades ausgespart, da sich dort ja der Lichtstrahl, der auf das Model trifft, im Bild befindet.

Ich danke dir und freue mich dass es dir gefällt. Die Dunkelkammer ist immer ein Ort, wo ich viel ausprobieren kann ohne Zeitdruck. Viele Bildideen die dann später draußen an einer Location umgesetzt wurden, fanden in der Dunkelkammer ihren Anfang.
