Sunflower Sunday

Happy Sunflower Sunday 🌻🌻🌻 There are some other good tags already like #SublimeSunday by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday by @ace108 or #alwaysaflower by @dswigle πŸ™‚ but I like #sunflowersunday

Yellow

We have a few sunflowers that survived the summer. The squirrels and chipmunks and birds really do a number on them. These sunflowers we actually grew inside on the porch until they got to big for that to work.

Antique

We grew these from seeds from the local public library that keeps a seed library.

I really like the colors and unique blooms. Have a great Sunday 😎

I really like the idea of a public library and a seed library! That is a first for me, but what a cool idea!

The sunflowers have such different colors, but, there is no doubt what they are. Even the squirrels recognize them. Hehe. I hope to make a suggestion to our library, for next year. It is too late to do it this year, as it will take a little dance to get it going. But, how fun that would be.

Thanks for the great idea, Vermont!! You are just like a native Vermonter. :) That is a good thing. :)

Have a Super Sunday!

Now might be a good time to get it started. Here its a combo of little white envelopes with saved seeds, half used seed packets, and full packs (a few retailers donate leftovers at the end of the retail season). But it is very cool.

I think you may be right! I'll give them a call!

We had a seed exchange at the library in the small town I lived in in cental WI 25 years ago. Pretty sure the idea was promoted by Mother Earth News way back when! These sunflowers are gorgeous, and I love the idea of sunflower Sunday! The only time I've tried to grow sunflowers here in the woods the critters ate all of the blossoms. You are lucky that you can grow them!

Mother Earth News πŸ™‚ that takes me back "Mother Earth News embraced the revived interest in the back-to-the-land movement at the beginning of the 1970s" - wikipedia I guess I was just 50 years late moving to the country and getting back in touch with nature
