Life is bitter and often brings you down. To counter that, I bought some colourful candy and chocolates. I had never seen cupcake-shaped chocolates before, so I did not care if I would like their taste - the shape was irresistible. Good marketing!
So, when I came home, I took the box of chocolates and set up a backdrop. I spread across the floor my LEDs and other lights that I use for indoor photography. ADHD thrives on chaos! Out of sight, out of mind - but if everything is in front of you, then suddenly creative ideas just come on their own.
My eyes stopped on the colourful LED strip. I imagined arranging many of the chocolates around the coils of the strip. Something like that.
I took many photos with that setup - different lenses and apertures. I was quite happy, though something was still missing. I went to take a glass of water, thinking of what to do after I put everything away when I saw the bag of small candy in the kitchen.
I knew exactly what to do next.
An almost identical photo, but with an extra touch.
The candies somehow remind me of the LED dies along the strip - similar size and brightly coloured. I tried different angles and distances.
The original idea was to have all of the chocolates sharp and within the depth of field but with the small candies added, some bluring makes the pictures dreamy.
Ultimately, I decided that I should get closer and focus on the little heart.
And lastly, I tried getting as close as possible with the aperture wide open at f/1.8.
