trust me catching birds in flight is a challenge until recently I seldom ever got a shot worth keeping, but doing better these days mind you I have a big lens for that, heavy but great for birding, also in flight you need a fast shutter speed I generally try to use a minimum of 1/2500 to freeze them in motion
as for the glare in some light thats always a challenge, many would recommend using a circular polarizer to help with that but often I have it sitting on my desk at home and not with me when I need it lOL
as for editing, I use a mix Lightroom and photoshop mainly
