Let me take you on a virtual trip to the Costa Tropical!

Bonus Flea Market

Without planning this upfront, the other weekend (a week ago) we were a bit fed up with the first flea market and rather than doing another round on that one to see if we really didn't miss anything, we spontaneously decided to drive to the other flea market about half an hour further.

I'm so happy we did because of the treasure chest I found there. But also, the weather was amazing, I felt the sun on my skin was quite burning and wondered if this was the first day that we should have taken sunscreen with us, just in case. Although I luckily didn't burn, and neither did the rest, we all had a bit more tan after the flea market strolls.

Wild Bananas

I remember always getting this feeling of holiday as soon as I saw the first palm tree when going on holiday. These trees don't grow in Holland but they do here. Although they've become normal to see, they still give me this holiday vibe when I look at them and realise that we can look at these nice trees every single day, adding to the holiday vibe.

Now something that hasn't been a daily sight for me, in fact, I wonder if I ever saw this in the wild, is bananas growing on a tree. I know at the costa tropical there's tons of fruit growing in the area but I surely didn't expect to see these hanging next to the parking lot of the flea market.

I can't help but feel happy vibes seeing fruit grow in trees in the wild!

Getting Hangry!

The sun was quite hot that day and we took two bottles of water with us, as we usually have been doing in the past months when going there. It was clear that we all needed a bit more to stay hydrated properly and on top of that we started to get hangry! Food we shall find!

We were advised to drive down the beach for decent food but after a failed attempt of not finding any parking spot and getting hungrier by the minute, we took another approach and I looked up restaurants in the other direction and found a place that seemed to have a great terrace with good seats in the shade, which at that point, we really needed.

You can't believe how happy I was with this glass of water, it took a bit long before they served us but at least it was cold water, as you can see in the picture.

The food

We were tempted to get the menu of the day which we almost never get, but then I was checking the menu and thought why would I order the menu of the day while there's something on the menu which I probably like more and isn't even that expensive. I ended up ordering these chicken filet with honey mustard sauce which was nice.

Sadly they served us fries that were far from done. As this is a real recipe for disaster for my boyfriend and my daughter had a whole plate of them, I asked to send it back and replace them. After they returned it was still not that great but at least they were a little less fully soaked with oil now.

The reason we wanted the menu del dia as they call it here was actually the grilled lamb chops. My boyfriend loves them but still compares them to those he ate in Holland at the BBQ nights at his friends house. They can never really compete but he said they didn't taste bad, it was just not as he expected.

The salad.jpg

The salad they served on the plates weren't that great either, you can't see it in this picture but I can assure you, half of the veggies we were served were ripe for the bin or having brown spots. I was thankful that the bill was not that expensive even though it was a hotel restaurant, which often reflects on the bill.

Looking at the busses parked there, it seems to be the place where these tour busses stop for a break.

Moments of gratitude

I was mostly just grateful for having a nice place to sit for a few hours before the drive back to our region as the terrace was lovely. These are the moments that we sit and reflect on our life and feel lucky that we live in this country full of sun and lots of beautiful nature.

Beautiful Flowers

The icing on the cake was walking from the reception to the car and noticing all these pretty flowers with the most amazing colours, how can your mood not be lifted seeing these?

Another great weekend

We were all very satisfied with the trip, I was exhausted for sure and I could feel that my back was protesting a bit due to strolling on two flea markets but I really didn't care because these are the precious moments where we create memories for life.

What we both love about the costa tropical is that the area is so much greener and you can really notice when you drive from our region and enter Granada. Mountains have more trees on it and the overall look goes from dry and sandy to green and living plants. It puts a smile on our faces every time we make the drive there.

The trip back home was smooth and it made us once again discuss if we should look for houses in this area as we have been so pleased by what we've seen there. Too bad that these trips are always done on Sundays and it also means that the weekend came to an end and the alarm goes off again on Monday morning to get up for work.

Thank you for stopping by, all pictures are taken by yours truly!

Go back there when the banana are ripe and eat one, bet it would be good!

Too many ripe bananas here in the supermarket to make such a long drive for it :) And I'm not sure if that would be even legal lol..

lol we wont tell...

Haha, the thing is, it was right in front of the entrance of the flea market, which is very busy :) If I ever catch this in the wild somewhere with no people, and they are ripe, I may try one :) but sssst!

Nah get fam to create a distraction then you good...

Haha, it would be nice to one day have a piece of ground to grow these fruits and olives though :) as we're in Spain...

Now that would be nice!

Sorry that the food wasn’t up to par. Nothing worse then anticipating one thing that you want and it not being close to what you expected.

At least it wasn't expensive, especially not for a hotel. The spot to sit was lovely and that made up for it :)

Too bad the food wasn't great... But nice wild bananas there. I used to have some in the yard in Puerto Rico. I'm glad the second flea market was better than the last.

Very pretty flowers. I'm glad the weekend was nice!
