Nature has its own unique color, taste, and smell in every season. I can't say I particularly like winter. Lately, I've understood why I don't like it. I don't have any activities or hobbies that I do in winter. If I were a skier or a mountaineer, I think I would be one of those who observe winter. Winter is a season where it snows for days, meters deep, and I get cold. If I find a hobby specific to winter soon, I can mend my relationship with winter.

The snow, which has turned into a white blanket on the ground, has created a wonderful harmony between it and Lake Van. The magnificent blue of Lake Van and the land, combined with the white snow, creates a magnificent visual feast. The southwest side of Lake Van prevents the lake water from flowing downwards. In fact, before Lake Van was formed, the eruption of Mount Nemrut blocked the flow of water, and thus Lake Van was formed. As seen in the photograph, the surrounding landmasses are white, and Lake Van, squeezed between them, is deep blue.

Although not visible in the photos, there was a ferry in the middle of Lake Van heading towards Van. It's only visible in the photo thanks to the camera's zoom feature. The ferry carries both cargo and passengers. At one point, news reports claimed it was the largest ferry in the country.

Lake Van, due to its alkaline content, does not freeze even on the coldest days. However, due to global warming, the water level in Lake Van has begun to drop in recent years. A significant distance has formed between the shore and the lake. In my childhood, the opposite was true; the lake level had risen considerably, posing a risk to settlements. Now, the water level is receding. I hope there will be plenty of rain this winter so that the lake level returns to its former state.
Van Gölü sodalı özelliği nedeniyle en soğuk günlerde bile donmaz. Küresel ısınma nedeniyle son yıllarda Van Gölü'ndeki su seviyesi düşmeye başladı. Sahil ile göl arasında ciddi mesafe oluşmuştu. Çocukluğumda ise tam tersi bir durum söz konusuydu. Göl seviyesi oldukça yükselmiş, yerleşim yerleri için risk oluşturmaya başlamıştı. Şimdilerde ise su seviyesinde çekilme var. Umarım bu kış çok fazla yağış olur da göl seviyesi tekrar eski haline döner.

Certainly. It's 20 km from where I live. Urartians and Armenians used to live here. Now, it's mostly inhabited by Kurds and Turks.
