Kirkor Mountain is one of the popular mountains in the region located between Bitlis province and Tatvan district. The mountain's name seems to have an Armenian origin, and it should indeed be Armenian, as there is evidence of people living here even before Christ. They lived in these lands until 1916, after which they were forced to leave. Another name for the mountain is "Atatürk Mountain." When viewed from certain vantage points, the mountain resembles the silhouette of Atatürk, hence the name. Its original name, as mentioned earlier, is Kirkor Mountain.

Çünkü milattan önce bile burada yaşadıklarına dair kanıtlar var. 1916 yılına kadar bu topraklarda yaşamışlar, sonraları gitmek zorunda kalmışlar. Dağın bir diğer ismi de ''Atatürk Dağı''. Dağa bazı görüş alanlarından bakıldığında dağ Atatürk silüetini andırıyor. Bu nedenle Atatürk dağı olarak da geçiyor. Orijinal ismi başta belirttiğim gibi Kirkor dağı.
I zoomed in on the mountain using my phone's camera. It looks small, but it's a majestic mountain. The mountain is covered in snow, though not entirely. The northern slopes have more snow cover. The southern slopes aren't fully visible, but the sun's rays have melted some of the snow there.

This is a shot of the mountain from the north. A little higher up, the mountain appears smaller and more submerged. However, I know it's quite imposing when viewed up close.

I moved a little closer to the mountain, and the shooting angle changed slightly. The tree that came into the frame created a very aesthetically pleasing image. The fact that there was only one tree was one of the details that enhanced the photograph. Although not very visible in winter, the top and surroundings of Mount Kirkor are covered with trees. Sometimes small fires break out there. They are noticed immediately and dealt with promptly.

The camera angles cause the mountain to appear small at times, majestic at others, and just an ordinary mountain at others. Mount Kirkor has a reputation and prestige in the region. A train passes along the south-facing slopes of the mountain. Especially in winter, photographers come here to photograph Mount Kirkor as the train passes.

The view is truly beautiful. Warm clothing is essential. The spot where I took the photo is 1700-1800 meters high. The summit of the mountain is around 2400 meters.
