Misty morning woods Thursday Tree Love blog thumbnail.jpg

So just like my post from yesterday about my 4th Hive anniversary, I knew this Thursday Tree Love blog hop was happening today, and I had big plans that are still just plans. However in this case, there were a few things that were out of my control - like my WordPress blog suddenly being unreachable! 😲

Yesterday, whilst doing my usual web browsing, I encountered a couple of websites that seemed to be offline, and figured there might be some sort of DNS attack going on, but never got around to checking it out. They were back up today, so I figured all was well. Then a couple hours ago, I tried to open the tab on my WP admin panel to upload my photos for today's post, and got this instead...

error message on traciyork.jpg

Yes, my bill is paid (😂) and as far as I know, my certificates are all up to date. It doesn't look like my webhost (Dreamhost) is down, but I've tried multiple browsers and they all give basically the same error message.

At first, I was like..

But then I realized I could just post it on my Hive blog, and then copy it over to WP in the next day or so when it's back up again (so Parul can do the pingback thing), and...

Now before I get on with the pictures, a quick shout out to my aforementioned WordPress blogging friend Parul to say thank you for hosting this awesome blog hop every couple of weeks. If you want to join in the Tree love blog hop fun, it's wicked easy - here's the description from her latest post today, called #ThursdayTreeLove – 115:

Thursday Tree love is a photo feature hosted on this blog on every 2nd and 4th Thursday of a month. The next edition will go live on October 14, 2021. If you would like to play along, post a picture of a tree on your blog, tell me where did you spot the tree and link it back to this post.

If you don’t see the pingback, please leave a link to your post in my comments section. Please make sure that your post’s link is showing up on this latest edition. I will link your posts on my blog in the next edition and spread some love. Let’s come together to appreciate the beautiful nature around us.

As for these photos, unlike my usual FYI - these were taken in the woods at one of two campgrounds my family and I stayed at for just over a year, back a decade ago, with my old Olympus camera. All were resized, then cleaned up a bit with PicMonkey - mostly the exposure and sharpness, but with a few other tweaks like vignette filters for the corners here and there.

Now for the photos...

Misty morning woods in Raymond NH, from October 9th, 2011

As I was saying about my plans, I originally wanted to take more foliage pictures in our backyard, to compare to the ones from two weeks ago. However yesterday I noticed there really wasn't a huge difference yet, and thought about having my husband drive me around the neighborhood today to see if I could get some other fall color. However between the weather and our youngest's work schedule, it didn't happen.

So then I started scrolling through my unpublished photo archives and found these, taken just a couple weeks shy of exactly ten years ago during the first few weeks of our attempted full time camper living experiment. Since we just passed the 9 year anniversary of living in our current place, it seemed rather serendipitous.

1. Misty morning woods Pine Acres Oct 9 2011.jpg

1 - The name of the campground was Pine Acres, and true to its name, there were pine trees almost everywhere you looked.

2. Misty morning woods.jpg

2 - The damp air this particular day, combined with the early morning camp fires, made for some awesomely photogenic sun beams.

3. Misty morning woods.jpg

3 - Of course, I was so excited about how cool it looked, I wasn't completely paying attention to what was in my frame. So I ended up with a bunch of shots like this, with our dog's tie out leash on the tree, and a few other odds and ends that kind of distract from the wonderful woods and brilliant beams.

4. Misty morning woods.jpg

4 - Luckily though, I did finally realize and managed more without.

5. Misty morning woods.jpg

5 - I actually didn't do much editing on this one, beyond resizing and tweaking the sharpness a bit. I was surprised that trying to adjust the exposure actually ruined the cool vibe.

6. Misty morning woods.jpg

6 - Even though it was early October, there was still very little fall foliage showing above.

7. Misty morning woods.jpg

7 - Although looking through the trees in a different direction, there were hints of yellow and orange.

8. Misty morning woods.jpg

8 - It was amazingly awesome how long the woods looked like this.

9. Misty morning woods.jpg

9 - Mother Nature was a bit early for Halloween.

10. Misty morning woods.jpg

10 - And some things never change - I had to get a shot of the magnificent pine trees against the sky.

11. Misty morning woods.jpg

11 - Okay, make that two shots... lol!

12. Misty morning woods.jpg

12 - I debated including this one, as it's more campground (and our old car) than trees, but I thought it gave a good sense of how wooded the campground was, so I (obvs) decided to go for it. While there were some challenges fitting three young kids, our dog, our cat, and ourselves into a 30 foot camper fulltime, we also had some wonderful times together. Also some wild adventures - one of which I wrote about back then, but since I can't link to my WP blog at the moment, I'll have to edit in later. And now that it's actually technically Friday in my current neck of the woods, I'd say it's time to wrap it up.

Hope you enjoyed my photos of misty morning woods from all those years ago. Happy Thursday Tree Love everyone!

I saw all the guesses look very beautiful and the pine forests look still very natural. my greetings @deltasteem from Indonesia hope you are always healthy there ;)

Thank you very kindly, @deltasteem! Greetings to you in return from the Northeast corner of the US, and I hope you and yours are in good health as well. 😊

Didn't know you liked a bit of photography Mrs Watcher. Impressive :)

Oh dear, @raymondspeaks - it's like you don't even know me... sigh

Guess I've been watching too quietly. Maybe I should remedy that... lmao!

And thank you kindly, good sir. 😊

Despite the setbacks, thank God the problem was solved and you were able to give us the pleasure of seeing these beautiful pictures.

I love the sunlight passing through the trees. They look great. Thanks for sharing them. I send you a hug and my best wishes for this weekend! @traciyork

PD: They are all beautiful, but the first one is my favorite.

I'm sending a big hug right back to you, @marybellrg and thank you so much for your kind words. I've been having a busy, but wonderful weekend so far and I hope yours is going splendidly! 🤗

Thank you for taking the time to respond. It is a pleasure to visit your publications. I hope you have a fabulous week, I send you a hug back! @traciyork

I love trees @traciyork your photos are awesome so mystical looking. Mist through the trees intrigues me, I just love it. Thank you for sharing.

Trees have a special place in my heart too, @artywink. And I'm the same with the mist moving through the trees and (as is the case here since we're surrounded by farmland) across the fields. Hoping to capture some shots of that as well one of these days. And thank you in return for dropping by! 😊

You are welcome @traciyork, looking forward to more of your posts. Stay safe and have a great week.

The photos are amazing.

I like the ones where the sun rays are trying to get in, radiating all around.
Beautiful.

I'm rather partial to those as well, @wongi and thank you. 😊

My pleasure dear.

Ah, the woods...It was good to look at those pictures.

Yes, nothing like the woods. 💚 🌳 And thank you @manoldonchev.

I love those images @traciyork. Sunbeams in a pine wood ... it's like a fairytale. I hope you enjoyed some !PIZZA in the camper ...

There was a time, only a short while after these pictures (if memory serves) that our whole family ended up walking through the campground around 1am, while the mist swirled around us, lit up by the moon - it was a total fairytale moment that I can still picture clearly.

And funny you should mention it - we did end up that particularly evening having !PIZZA for dinner, which the grownups washed down with some !BEER 😂

It does sound like the perfect night!

It was, other than the reason we were out so late... although it turned out to be okay in the end... lol!

And sorry for being so vague, but it occurred to me yesterday that it might be cool to share that particular blog post here on Hive, so I don't want to give it all away in the comment section here. 😂

The pictures are so beautiful, looks like something out of vampire diaries.

That's an awesome description & I wicked appreciate the compliment - thanks so much, @khaleesii!

You are welcome 😊

I like this lightning!
Great job!

Mother Nature is the best when it comes to light filters...lol! And thanks, @crazy-andy. 😊

The light that passes through the branches and leaves is beautiful, it looks magical, congratulations on beautiful photos. Thanks for having them.

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do justice to how magical it looked, @astrocreator and if memory serves, it was even more amazing in person. Thank you so much for your kind words. 🤗

Nice pictures. Congratulations. Thanks for share.

Thank you in return @irvinc for your kind words.

Really like how the light and mist is being captured together on this one Traci!

Thanks, Andrew! As I said in another reply, I was worried I wouldn't be able to do justice to how magical it looked, and while it wasn't nearly as cool as it was in person, I'm still mostly happy with how they turned out. 😀

I like the rays in between the trees. Well done 👍🏽

Thank you so much, @d1homid.
