On December 17th, we got hit with our first significant snow of the winter season (although technically it was still fall). While we didn't get nearly as much as some other areas (Danbury New Hampshire had 48 inches!) we still had a good foot of snow here. While I did get out on the 18th to take a few shots, it was more of piles on top of cars and stairs. It wasn't until the 21st (after another smaller snow storm) that I thought to go out and capture some shots of the still snow covered trees. So for today's Thursday Tree Love, I thought I'd share thirteen shots of some snowy Solstice trees.
A special shout out to Parul as well, since this week's post is the 100th edition of her amazing Tree blog hop! I've followed her wonderful blog for years now, and participated in Tree Love a handful of times (I think) ages ago, and I'm so glad I reconnected and jumped back in a few months back so I could be around to help celebrate this milestone!

Oh, and almost forgot - these were taken in my Durham, NH yard, using my my Nikon affixed to my tripod. While they're not filtered, I did tweak the exposure and sharpness here and there.
Snowy Solstice Trees on December 21st, 2020
1. Looks like Mother Nature is decorating the pine trees with snow for the solstice.
2. This view should be familiar to visitors to my past tree love posts - this is a shot taken outside of our bedroom window, looking back into the woods.
3. Another familiar view, but from a slightly different angle - this is on the other side of our house, looking in the direction of our landlady's house.
4. Most of these shots almost seem monochrome thanks to the grey sky and white ground, but every now and then, the few fall leaves still clinging to the branches, lend a little pop of color.
5. The two trees close to the center of this shot, always appear to be reaching their branches towards each other, as if to hold hands.
6. Same part of the woods from a different spot in the yard.
7. Snow covered shag bark hickory trees and granite stones.
8. Snow decorated trees along the side of the driveway.
9. Another snowy Christmas tree.
10. This pine tree along the side of the house, while super tall, only has evergreen branches at the very top.
11. This year there seems to be a large amount of pine cones sprouting at the ends of the branches. All those dark little spots are big clusters.
12. While I'd have preferred (for many reasons) to have had blue sky behind these snowy branches, I think it still makes for a pretty shot.
13. Such majestic looking Solstice trees standing watch over the top of the driveway!
Thanks again for giving me the excuse to go out here and there to get new shots of my bark covered friends (like these snowy Solstice trees) in our yard, Parul!
