There is really only one happiness in this world: that of lovingly collecting books during the day and reading them at night.
It falls to me the very odd task of sharing with you today images from an exceptional museum that I'm sure many would like to see, even if you may not all be museum lovers like this one where perusing my post you will see images of mummies in sarcophagi that can create certain sensations.
The Museum of Egyptology, known by many names, is the benchmark for all museums of its kind built in the world and, of course, contains the most important collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts in the world, some 120,000 objects. The building covers an area of 13,600 square metres and its collection spans from the prehistoric to the Greco-Roman period.
I can say that all the way to Cairo was a real adventure.
Most papyri are fragments, they can be broken, damaged, but there is also the largest, longest papyrus in the world, the Yuya Papyrus.
They are written in ancient Egyptian with hieroglyphs, Arabic, Latin or even Greek.
Many large statues, smaller statues, figurines, statuary groups, such as the Triad Menkaura, are all particularly beautiful. Many are made of red or grey granite.
Particularly beautiful are those in the collection discovered in Tutankhamun's tomb, his throne decorated with precious stones, with his image in relief and that of his wife-Ankhesenamon.
The sarcophagi with mummies inside I can say that I was very impressed.
All I can say now is that I really enjoyed the museum, I wish I could have stayed longer to take in all the sights, I can only hope that I will be in the land of the pharaohs again.
If I recommend this museum? Yes, with all my heart.
