Bankovska mill - Reselets village (Bulgaria)

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

Hello friends :)

A few months ago, I went on a great trip to two very beautiful northwestern Bulgarian villages - Kunino and Reselets. Recently, I made a post here in which I showed and told about my visit to Kunino, and in today's post I will show you the continuation of our trip and what we were able to see in the village of Reselets. So ,After a few hours' walk in the vicinity of Kunino, we head to the neighboring village of Reselets.

The main purpose of our trip was the Tectonic Ridge Kaleto eco trail, which is located in the vicinity of Reselets.

Following the navigation, we arrive in the village and find a suitable place to leave our cars and from here continue on foot.

It's quiet and peaceful around and there are almost no other visitors except me and my friends :). We meet two cyclists who kindly show us the right direction to go to the ecotrail.

Our group set off in the indicated direction and we hadn't gone even 500 meters when we saw it from the left on the road in front of us...😮😮😮

The Bankovskata mill in all its beauty.

This is a unique place that we had heard about, and which we also very much wanted to visit.

The information about the mill on the Internet is to scarce, there are almost no publications related to it, and that is why we were very surprised that it is located literally not a few meters from our road and it turned out to be so easily accessible.

The little mill is so cute and beautiful, literally like something out of a fairy tale :)

With great excitement, our whole group headed to the mill to see it up close.

To our great regret, the mill was locked with a massive padlock.

Nevertheless, we go to look around, and the view and nature around us is really amazing.

The whole company was in awe of the picturesque nature that surrounded us from all sides.

The weather around us was beautiful and sunny, we managed to take great photos.

At that moment, as if out of the blue, a white-haired old man with a beard appeared near us, by whom we were slightly startled at first.

It turned out that this is the owner of the mill, grandfather Ivan, who lives in the neighboring house, which is in the immediate vicinity of us.

Grandfather Ivan turned out to be a very kind person who welcomed us extremely warmly. From it we understand that the mill is even now fully functional and working. The man kindly accompanied us around, explaining in detail the working principle of the mill, and very willingly answered all our questions.

He was so fascinated by our attention and interest that he offered to unlock the mill for us and let us see it from the inside as well.

The whole group was very impressed and excited by what they saw inside.

Everything here is so real and so authentic simply delightful ...one is speechless.

Very excited by what we saw, we sit down to take a short break.

During this time, grandfather Ivan tells us many interesting stories and legends about the mill.

Although his stories are so curious and interesting it will take me a lot of time and writing to be able to tell you everything again.

It turns out that the mill is an inheritance of grandfather Ivan from his grandfather.

From grandfather Ivan's story, we understand that the mill was created about 150 years ago, and has continued to work since then to this day. This type of mills , people was called "Karajeika".Nowadays it is fully functional, having been reconstructed in such a way that it can also be used as a Tepavica(carpet washer) , which is often used by the local people.

Is a real pleasure for us to listen to the stories of the kindly host.
This here friends is a true and authentic story. This mill is part of the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria , and in my opinion grandfather Ivan is the owner of a priceless treasure.

Captivated by grandfather Ivan's stories and strong emotions, we had not noticed when almost 2 hours had passed since our arrival here.We heartily thank the host for his hospitality, wish him health and longevity, then say goodbye and set off to the next destination of our journey
It was time to leave for the eco trail, which we had originally headed for.

On the way there was a spring with cold water where we quenched our thirst and.

After a few minutes we reached a wooden bridge over the river at the end of which there was a sign.

We understood from the sign that this is the shorter route that leads to the eco trail.

At that moment on our way, we met an uninvited guest, who caused terror and panic, especially in the female part of the group. 🐍🐍🐍

It is a viper snake, which is poisonous, and this fact made us rethink our route and continue again on the asphalt road to the main entrance of the eco-trail.

I learned from a random person whom I met on the way that this is a fish pond, and a little further on there is a restaurant that offers fish, cold drinks and other food.

After about 300 meters we reached our destination.

We are now in front of the central entrance of the eco-path.

To our great regret and disappointment, when we looked at the route map , we found that the whole transition of the path will take more than 4 hours, and in some places the terrain is difficult and even slightly dangerous.

It was almost 6:30 PM. After the several hour tour during the day in the neighboring village of Kunino, and the approximately 2 hour visit to grandfather Ivan's mill, we had messed up our plans a bit and were quite late.
In the end we made the wiser decision and decided to postpone the visit to the eco trail for another time.
Next time, we will come on time and well prepared. We do not lack motivation. We will thoroughly enjoy a walk on the eco path and I promise that I will share it with you again afterwards.

That was all from Reselets village from me for now. I wish everyone a nice weekend, stay healthy!
