Egret in the Mangrove Forest

Herds of egrets began to return to their homes before sunset. They occupy the branches of mangrove trees. I photographed egrets in the Pusong Reservoir Mangrove Forest, Lhokseumawe City, Aceh. Here, egrets are the most common wild bird species found in coastal settlements. They can live safely in the coastal settlement area, and there has been no disturbance for them thus far.

These images are the result of the process of testing my new camera Sony A7iii combined with my Canon EF100-400mm lens bridged by a Metabones adapter. In my opinion, the combination isn't optimal for photographing wild birds, because the auto-focus tracking doesn't work as it should. Thanks to this experience, I dare say, it's not the right choice, despite my strength in using the equipment at hand. I wish to have a telephoto lens for Sony someday, hopefully.

I chose the Picture Profile PP3 setting (setting of natural color tone using the [ITU709] gamma) to anticipate underexposure on a cloudy afternoon, I had to maintain the maximum shutter speed for the ever-moving egret. Get the process in Photoshop, and here are the shots this afternoon, Friday, November 25, 2022.

This location is probably the best for learning bird photography in Lhokseumawe; it's easy to get to, it's in the city center, and you can easily shoot egrets while standing on the side of a public road.

I'm not a professional photographer, but I enjoy it as a hobby.

We've started to get egrets here in England. I've seen them in the local marshes. A bit colder there than the mangrove swamp I would have thought.

Right, the mangrove swamps here provide a lot of food for the egret.

These egrets are very beautiful. It's great to see a lot of them among nice nature like this. Great shot! Thanks so much for sharing.

You're welcome, bro
