It's only two hours by bus from Hue to Da Nang so the trip wasn't hard.
It was also easy to plan things since it wasn't my first time in the city so, having arrived at the bus station, I knew where to take a public bus instead of paying $4 for a motorbike taxi.
And I had a favorite place to stay in the city too, Kon-Tiki DaNang Hostel. The price is only 4.5$ for a bed in a dormitory, including an omelet, two toasts, and coffee in the morning. Cheap and cozy, with great employees.
Da Nang has an amazing seaside, and I couldn't help but head there for a photo walk as soon as I had time for that.
"Amazing" isn't about something particular but a general feeling from the landscape and perspective to how the boulevard is designed including free bathrooms and beverage vending machines with store prices.
The sea was spectacular. Believe me or not, it looks still and blue in summer, but much less exciting than these angry off-season waves.
A sunny day in February means +26, with the temperature declining to +22 at night. Comfortable, a lot, when it's not +32 like in summer. So the beach is full of leisure activities: some foreigners sunbathe, others play volleyball; there are many who come to stroll and breathe the fresh air. Joggers are often too.
As for me, I was focused on shooting signs of the off-season.
There were plenty of them.
The beach views (damp, grayish, abandoned in many places) resembled my native Black Sea in winter but it was much warmer in Da Nang, of course.
Treacherous waves were creeping in to soak people's feet or even steal unattended slippers.
Dusk came and the atmosphere became more surrealistic.
Umbrellas have finally turned into followers of a mystical cult of a sea deity. Other looked more like UFOs:
It was Sunday, so locals enjoyed their free time. These guys were playing volleyball quite well, and I loved watching them:
There was another net, and more people playing ball. I was just sitting on a sand-covered bench there enjoying the fresh air and idleness...

I took these images with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G on a full-frame DSLR Nikon D750 on February 9, 2025, in Da Nang, Vietnam.

It is weird because the temperature is almost summer, but the weather looks like autumn and doesn't invite for a swim or to take the sun
Right words: it doesn't invite for a swim. And the plants feel the same: the weather doesn't invite them to grow, and they don't grow despite +26 on sunny days and regular rains. A strange feeling of "autumn-summer-ness".
