Hand colored with colored pencils: Carved Djembe

in Rising Star Game8 days ago

Friends, I'm sending you all a big hug. Today I drew a new instrument from Rising Star. This one is part of my current series dedicated to drums. As I mentioned a few days ago, some of my upcoming drawings will be dedicated to instruments within the drum family, and today's is a very well-known drum from Rising Star. I say this because several character decks use it. The drum I'm talking about is the Djembe.

The djembe is a very curious African drum because of its shape. In fact, this is what makes it most recognizable. If you look closely, it's shaped like a chalice, a thin cup. This unusual shape will help you recognize it in the game as soon as you see it. I don't know why that shape was chosen for it, but I applaud the designer; it truly turned out fantastic.

I think finding the creator would be very difficult, 😅, because this instrument isn't the work of a single person. It's the result of years of musical evolution that transformed it into what we have today.

Despite what many say about its African origins, this is one of the most well-known and widely used drums in the world. In the United States, it's very common in various genres, such as pop. And of course, it's been most popular in many Latin American countries. In fact, I've noticed that Latin music loves drums in general. I say this because all the drums I've drawn so far share this common characteristic.

The djembe is no exception, of course. If you'd like to know how it works, I'll explain a little. There are three main ways to play it: one is with an open hand, another is with the fingers, and the last and main one is on an edge with the palms of the hands. It's with this combination that the rhythm is created, and with it, the music we can all enjoy.

Friends, so far you've seen some of the things I did to create the drawing. I've been telling you about them while I've been talking about the instrument. But here's a brief guide. In the first four images, you saw how I made the main drawing. Then they saw how I colored it all with colored pencils and to finish here is the complete work.
