A big hug to all my hive friends. My drawing for today is dedicated to a drum, but not just any drum; I'm talking about the timpani. This is a drum with interesting features that I'd like to show you as you see how I created the drawing. By the way, the full name of the instrument in the game is Orchestral Timbale. You can find it in the deck identified by the number i289.

What's most striking when looking at the timpani, I think, is its size. It's a very large drum, and while it's not the largest, it's among the largest. And of course, at such a large size, the music resulting from playing it is equally large, although in practical terms, it translates into a very deep sound. It's very useful in classical music orchestras or for creating plays that require a military battle atmosphere.
Despite its size, it doesn't play alone; it can be played alongside others, even up to four timpani at once. I imagine it must be very difficult to control them all. Some can be placed on a base and played with a pedal that, when pressed, has a rubber ball that hits the drum and produces the music, so the player has their hands free to play other things.

Just a curious fact, in case you didn't know, all timpani like this one are completely hollow; they're just a large, empty, copper base that's then painted. A material like leather or synthetic material is placed on top to create a kind of membrane for playing with the mallet or pedal.
Dear friends, now I want to talk a little about the drawing you've been seeing while I was telling you a little about the instrument. In the first images, I showed you how I traced the base of the playing card and the corresponding title of the instrument on a white sheet of paper. You could also see how I drew and colored the timpani and the rest of the elements. Finally, I want to show you the fully colored drawing and some of the materials used.

The orchestral timpani, friends, is a great instrument, and there are many interesting things to mention about it. I hope you enjoyed my drawing of it. I hope to draw some more timpani from the set in the future. In the meantime, a hug, and look forward to my return.
