Hand colored with colored pencils: Rhythm Stick

in Rising Star Game5 days ago

A few weeks ago, I brought you one of my hand-drawn illustrations of the guiro musical instrument. This time, I've drawn a guiro's cousin, the rhythm stick. They're cousins because they're played in a similar way, although they differ in shape. Before I explain a little, you should know that this instrument is represented in the i287 deck, so you already know its identification number in case you want to buy it and have it in your collection. I mentioned earlier that they're cousins because they're played in a very similar way. A small wooden stick is used to scrape one side of the instrument, thus producing the rhythm.

Both the guiro and the rhythm stick are played this way, but their main difference is that the guiro is hollow inside and the size of a vase. The rhythm stick, on the other hand, is not hollow but massive. It's a wooden stick that has been turned to make grooves around it, similar to a large screw. These grooves are what the other wooden stick scrapes to create the rhythms. So, as you've seen, both consist of two parts: the instrument itself and its respective drumstick, if you can call it that.

To be honest, I prefer the sound of the guiro; I think it's more melodic and beautiful, but this one isn't far behind. I like it too, and I've heard it in several salsa songs, and of course, in bachata, too, which is where it often comes up.

So, friends, you've seen how I traced the drawing, how I wrote her name on the white sheet, and then how I made the base with the included instrument. You also saw how I colored the entire base with colored pencils, but now you need to see how it turned out when I colored the Rhythm Stick.

With the black marker highlighting, it looked even nicer. And so, friends, while we were talking about this instrument, you saw the drawing and how I made it. In the final image, you'll see some of the materials used and how it turned out.

A big hug, until next time.
