Weed lessons..

Hey what's up weed-heads today's extra post is lessons in weed.. sometimes you give them, sometimes you take them.. so let's get to today's lessons..

So today was harvest day over at Martin's.. which brings us to lesson one.. don't grow with a partner.. someone always ends up butt-hurt. Me in this case. I don't approve of the job he did and imo these plants are half the size they should have been..

So let's look at what we got.. the first plant up is Orange Kush..

Then there's the LA Confidential..

And lastly Grape Presidential × Durban Poison..

All 3 look pretty skimpy in my opinion. Lesson learned.. now it's time for me to give a lesson.. it's called washing your weed before harvest..

First things first.. a general trimming.. in this case removing the fan leaves and getting manageable branches..

To actually wash the weed you need 3 containers.. the first is warm water mixed with 5 Tablespoons of Baking soda..

Fill with water then add 5 tablespoons of lemon juice..

The second container should be warm water.. 75° or so.. the third container is cold water..

So after the general manicure stick your branches in bucket one that contains the baking soda lemon juice mix.. stir for 30 seconds or so..

Then repeat the process in three rinse water.. the warm water first then the cold..

Hang dripping wet in a dark place with plenty of airflow. In my case I used the grow tent..

We'll check those every day until its time to start the curing process..

Peace out y'all.. Dave

Growing plants is very cool. Keep growing

why the wash? did it have mildew?

No mildew. But the washing gets all the dust and dirt out of the buds.. it makes the finished product taste better... and here in Colorado plants dry to quickly. To quickly to get the chlorophyll out. Washing them adds moisture and slows the drying process

Personally I would put a fan underneath to speed the drying time.

Let alone using centrifugal force to help throw as much of the water out of the flower as possible.

Washing isn't something I do all the time because generally I grow indoors and I never have a problem with molds mulders and issues.

However you are completely correct biggest rule here is never to grow under somebody else because somebody always ends up unhappy.

I am really hoping to slow down the drying process.. there's no humidity here in Colorado. These would be crispy in 2 days if I just cut and hung. In hindsight I should have photographed the dirty water so everyone could see all the dirt and dust that came out of these plants.

Oh I absolutely believe it as I've seen it however generally I just have too much volume.

And yes you have to seriously slow down the drying process. Otherwise your cannabis would just fall apart.

I would love to have the to much volume problem..

Yep one of these days I'll get back to my perpetual cannabis grow. And of course I like everything but the trimming.....

Awesome post, I always wash my outdoor strains but not normally the indoor ones.

Nice socks! You need to probally wash those too, lol, I had to!

Dude some people wont even mess around with bud unless its been washed. You know Ive done it a few times, and i definelty did not notice a drop in terps, nor potency. I do fell like my wash was inadequate though, since I only used two compartments.
