One of my favorite cannabis strains of all time is known as “blueberry”
Because everything in Maine and more or less all of New England these days is canna-centric, I just assumed when I heard there was a blueberry festival it was about that amazing strain blueberry :/
So anyway turns out it’s about tiny fruits, I mean I like blueberries and everything, but I really thought that whereas this was a blueberry festival, I’d be able to find somebody with the legendary cannabis “strain” here locally.
Legend has it that the man known as “DJ short” is responsible for selecting the cultivars and loudly engineering what would become the Blueberry for years, going back to the 70s, until he finally got the right mix. Somehow an expression of berries emerged, never before seen in the different phenotypes he had produced out of a few available cultivars, on a very early and interesting genetic experimentation project, which he had been working on.
DJ Short was not a New Englander, per se, however Blueberry is at the root of most strains with blue or berry in the name (i.e. blue dream, blu ferrigno, mother of berry) are more than likely derived from this OG strain.
Here in Rural Maine the local heads grow a ton of blueberries and are all about incorporating the original blue balls into their food and moonshine, so I guess why not pack the bowls up too?
Vacationland is home to a huge blueberry industry, and Wyman’s is one of the larger operations running over here in the town of Machias.
I mean folks here even have blueberry “Ford Fun-50s”
Locals here refer to them as “bloobs” one such “fella”told me
And so once a year they all go crazy making blueberry pies, beer, smoothies, soda,
blueberry lemonade, scones and so I was really thinking people would have blueberry weed available ..sadly nobody holding was to be found in the quaint little blueberry town.

But I love crafty shit anyway and you actually can’t find dank afghan turtles
or things like that anywhere,
Outside of craft fairs here in the year 2023, as all the brick and mortar afghan blanket shops
have sadly gone the way of Thom MCCann

you’re more than likely going to find her at one of these craft fairs, so I made the trip,
To come hang out and eat fresh blueberries and talk to some interesting locals.

Eventually I found a great little rec. dispensary in town, Down East Smoke and Vape
There are no shortage of pot shops in The former Massachusetts annex, btw
so I went in to see if they might have had any blueberry weed
.. They did not,
but they did have non blueberry weed
so I got the Mac which I quite enjoyed.
I got this fatty pre-roll who is like probably two full grams into a cone
Which is great because no cars were allowed at the big vendor tent party over in the downtown section of the buried in blue, Machias
so I had to go for a little walk, to get to the center of town where all the pi action was going down
When I finally got there I was high and there was endless blueberry pie.
Not only that, one vendor even had some old jazz records for sale
Jazz is like the original weed music as far as cannabis culture goes. In the time just before cannabis prohibition cannabis and Jazz were commonly experienced in the night clubs of the roaring 20s, as alcohol was prohibited and relegated mostly to the speak easy circuit.
As in the term jazz cabbage ….you know the band The trichomes
recently put out a popular album by that name, but as a soirée
Anyways while this whole experience has gotten me interested in maybe getting some blueberry seeds, the trip was amazingI really enjoy these little small towns and all of the local flavah
Plus the Homies at Down East Smoke and Vape were great and now they’re my friends
speaking of friends, one thing I’ve noticed about maine is all the smoke shops have resident Doggs check out this tiny pug

I love Blueberry as well! Did you know Dj Shorts friend actually had a Hive(Steem) account, or does. To bad he never stayed active. I know this place is a littler harder then other sites, but really if your consistent it is easy sailing. We just need more people here, then it will be so much better!
