Afritunes: Passion over making a living

in AFRI-TUNES26 days ago

There are numerous benefits that come with following your Passion if we understand the fact that the beds are not always rosy. I was talking to a friend from my secondary school a few days ago, he was now a geologist doing his PhD(Doctor of philosophy). I was happy that he had decided to study this far, not minding the fact that he had some mouthwatering offered jobs that he had turned down to attain this height. I was thinking differently from him, judging from the state of our nation, I would prefer working to studying further, but curiously I asked him why he had chosen to study instead of work, especially knowing the offer was tempting. He pointed out some reasons that made me think twice about going for passion or making a living and that I'll be sharing.

One of man's greatest fears is being trapped in the rat race or suffering in lack. We often want to make a living that we forget our greatest point of making an impact on humanity. A man who was destined to make an impact as an engineer may decide to opt-in into politics if that's where the grass is greener. He may feel comfortable there, but fail to realize that his fate would have bloomed more, touching life as an engineer if he had stayed there. Nowadays people do not mind trading happiness with money and that's how our system gradually became faulty. So this friend of mine told me he'd like to become a lecturer rather than working in the field he had studied and that's the reason he had decided to study further. People expect him to become a geologist on the field, but he desires lecturing because that's where his passion lies. He had chosen passion over wealth, not minding societal judgment.

First, the bed is not always rosy, at the long run vicissitudes set in, then one discovers how much he had traded his happiness just to make a living. People who do not work for passion are often discouraged, they give less and may keep seeking for money and more money. The question is; when things get worse, what do you fall back to? Especially for people who chose making a living over passion, I bet they stay unhappy and Try to manage through, not minding the stress and discomfort that comes with it. Sometimes money isn't everything, happiness is.

Secondly, people who choose impact over making a living are often happy doing the things they do. They find content with the little they earn but make a greater impact in their career or field they've chosen to dwell in. When things go bad, their passion keeps them going, when all tides are against them, with smiles they strive through. People who work for passion often have better results in the end compared to people who are there for the money. Passion makes one give in their best, with the intentions of improving, but people making a living are only encouraged by their gain, whenever there is no gain, they become demotivated. I'll choose passion for two reasons; happiness when the bed is no longer rosy, and impact.

Judging by your perspective, passion is superior to making a living, the instance you made about people leaving their calling to chase money really blew my mind.

It's what we are facing currently in the world, that is why we have a lot of unqualified people in crucial offices and they are complicating things for everyone.

That's it, the economy of the country has shaped people into demanding wealth rather than pursuing passion

Thank you for sharing I really enjoyed reading this post of yours you really made a lot of sense

I'm glad it made sense to you in some areas
