Music as widely known is the pleasant combination of sounds to the hearing and also, music is age-long with we humans owing to our ability to be drawn to beautiful sounds and to appreciate them. Music has over the years found expression in education and learning, entertainment, advertisement, information and communication, culture, health and therapies etc. Music has also evolved over the years and it has a strong influence on human mind i.e. soul which can impact greatly on it either on the positive or the negative. Aside the rhythm or melody of a song which can attract and have influence on the people, the musical lyrics is also of importance which can do likewise.
Personally, i believe that music is an expression of the thoughts or inspiration of a person which is skillfully presented in words (lyrics) with rhythm, melody and other features coming into play to make it presentable and attractive. However, i dislike music whose lyrics or music contents can inspire bigotry, hatred, violence, segregation or of any negative impacts even though it may sound melodious. One of such songs i dislike is "Science Student" by Olamide produced in the year 2018. The artiste is a popular Nigeria music artiste with popularity especially among the youths. When this song hit the Nigeria music industry and like a wave or a fire, it started spreading and gaining popularity. However, i dislike the song because in no time based on the lyrical content of the song, we see the youths especially students misbehaving as engagement in hard drugs, social vices, unrests among the youths is on the increase after the song was released.
Another reason i dislike the song was even the title of the song itself which is a rather unfair presentation or representation of a science student. Science has rather helped humanity and contributed positively to humanity in the field of health, agriculture, researches etc but not negatively as portrayed in the song even though there might still be some challenges with science as there are no perfect system. On January 27, 2018, the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) slammed a "Not To Be Broadcasted" warning on this song citing it to subtly promoting illegal drugs. Source
This song negatively affected the youths especially students that they begin to act wrongly and engaging in social vices all in the name of "science students".
Music is powerful and can impact on the listener either to the positive or to the negative. This is the reason why some people have reservations about some certain music artistes or music genre haven seen the impacts of their songs over time. Therefore, music artistes, music producers, musicians must strive to produce songs whose effect will be remembered for positively for the influence it had on the people and not the other way round. It's high time we look beyond fame, popularity or money but for quality and strive for excellence in our music productions. Thank you for reading even as comments and contributions are welcomed.

I also don't like any music that promote disunity and hatred. Music is supposed to inspire positively and not otherwise.
