Database. Right! That is one of the common reasons why recruiters ghost their prospects; the same reason why I do not personally know about 90% of my LinkedIn connections. 😄
In one of my previous jobs, I was having chitchat with our recruiters when they admitted being required by their manager to have at least 500 connections. They just sent connection requests in random to people they do not know. So that explained why I have countless connection requests from strangers with either HR, TA or recruiter on their title.
That's absolute rubbish. The number of connections on linked in does not determine a person's value or ability to contribute - unless your job is to spam all your linked in connections with corporate memes every day.
Internally among them recruiters, I think they know that it is rubbish. Still, they do it to make the wrong impression with external parties who they thought may say "wow, they have a wide network." So fake.
What's more fake, instagram or linkedin? :D
I am not active on IG so I am not sure but would have said that if I haven't known about those fake connections in LinkedIn. 😄
My money is on LinkedIn :D
