Difficulties increased. I imagine if this is not the rigged version, I could have used up all the lifes and still not being able to complete the level. Good thing is, the designer of Super Mario Bros 3 did put down their mind into the game. It's like every level, there's a life UP green mushroom. So, if it's being managed properly, and by right will be able to end a level with more life then it start. Some of the levels has more than 1 free lifes, it is definitely worth to keep on repeating the level to raise more lifes and prepare for the final rounds after world 8.
