Since finding this Squier Standard Stratocaster by Fender built in Taiwan in 1996 I've been itching to do a teardown to find out as much as I could about it because it just sounds amazing.
This video was a lot of fun to make and turned into a little bit of a detective story tracing what and where all the components had come from.
Some are still a mystery? That's where you come in. Maybe you can help me identify where something has come from?
Guitar nerds welcome.
There were a few surprises when I took it apart but it explains why this particular Strat sounds so good.
This guitar was made in 1996 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster. The neck was made by Atlansia and it was this neck that sold me on the guitar as soon as I held it.
It is just so comfortable and has proven to be my go to guitar for daily practice. I can play it for hours and not get fatigued or hand cramps just bliss.

I've not heard of those pickups before. Seems you got a quality guitar. Bit strange with the extra holes in the neck. I have no idea what the numbers mean. Probably worth asking on a Fender or Strat forum as someone will know.
I have a Peavey bass with machine heads like that, but you do need to cut the strings to the right length to make it work. I've got locking tuners on both my electrics now.

I've been scouring all the strat talk forums and found out quite a bit about the neck by Alansia. They make some pretty 'out there' guitars and basses.
The pickups are from a UK company and sound amazing.
The tuners are a very old make kluson the OEM for Fender from the beginning until Fender bought them out.
Fascinating what you can find in a pawn shop. 🎼🎶🎸😋👍
@molometer! I sent you a slice of $PIZZA on behalf of @steevc.
Did you know PIZZA has a very active community Discord? (3/10)
You sure got that neck looking sweet! I give you credit for the guts to rip right into it and check it out. With my luck, something would snap or break rendering it useless LOL
😂😂 Did you like my special tool to get knobs off. 😂😂
I've been watching your handy work with that flaky motherboard. I was cracking up watching poor Ben fault finding...we've all been there. 🎼🎶🎸😂👍
Anyone who can correctly identify the neck of this guitar will get a cookie from me.
