It came as a surprise at the beginning of the week. My friend told me to sent her a pay request via PayPal and in no time she had payed for this. I want address the fact that, so far, women have been more direct and interested in what what I do than men. I can attribute this to that stupid thought we all men have about having better things or doing things better than this other guy. I don't think we think like that all the time. But I dare say everyone of us has felt like that at some point in life.
Someone made a joke about this when I sold my first Venezuelan Cuatro and I could only answer by saying "if only you were as decided as this girl was, we wouldn't be having this conversation". Needless to say, this is one of these guys in a list of mine. A list of what? Well, there are people who have asked for a free instrument. Those are in my "ha, ha, ha" list. Or was it "come-and-do-some-sanding-then-we-can-talk list"? You get the point. However, the more annoying are in this self-proclaimed waiting list. The have said that they will buy my instruments in some years. I mean it's ok that you don't want to do it because I'm new to the craft. That's perfectly fine. The stupid thing to think about it is that I give a damn about that fact.
I rather be ignored for my work than have this petty comments. A lot of people already ignore my work and I couldn't care less. I mean girls are the ones coming up and asking for prices or commenting on the posts and so. It is my wish that when these years are spent and I have made more instruments, I will have so many request from other clients that I could say "I'm sorry, I'm all booked up". And they point them in another direction. My teacher does this when he gets a stingy client.
Those are the same kind of these guys. People who have cheap instruments that have been heavily damaged and want to repair it. But do not want to spend money on it.
Regardless this rant, I'm here to celebrate the fact that my 4th Venezuelan Cuatro has been sold and I'm working on packaging to make it travel safe all the way to Caracas. An help add one more women to the number of amazing female Venezuelan musicians that exist and will in no time make the bulk of our musicians.
I'm not done yet. I still need some more boxes to get this done, but I'm having a blast doing this. I also need to add that after this stuff was published in Instagram (which is proving to be a nice channel for the workshop), I received a DM from a girl from a closer city, asking for all the details about my work, prices and pictures of instruments. She hasn't told me yet if she's getting one, but there's high chances it will another sale. Thus, adding another one to my list of clients.
And men? Well, if they continue with their doubts I might even become a maker of instruments for women only. It would be odd but really funny at the same time. For now, I'm happy to see how this nice instrument is going to have a home and make music for who knows how many years.

The good part is they will get their head out of their ass when your prices go up so it will cost them more for not helping you out early! Lol
