Another (Frustrating) Thanksgiving πŸ¦ƒ

We celebrated an early (Canadian) Thanksgiving yesterday, and it was, unfortunately, another frustrating year...

The day began with my mother-in-law ripping my "Thank you" note down from our front door.
I had left a note thanking the future delivery man for delivering a package later on that day, and my MIL tore it off the door, for whatever reason...

(All photos are my own)

Then it was hearing my MIL snap at our 4-year-old daughter, "Are you done talking yet?"
It was in reference to our daughter calling my MIL out on her bullcrap -- MIL tried throwing our daughter's daddy (her son) under the bus by saying he "takes forever" in the bathroom, and our daughter reminded her that we actually wait on MIL "every day, every time."
And that was my MIL's rude reaction to being confronted with the truth...

Finally, it was time for the Thanksgiving celebration itself πŸ¦ƒ We celebrated at our Recreational Vehicle with my daughter-in-law and her family, and (unfortunately...) my mother-in-law.
Well, DIL had left her 3-year-old son with us while she went to order the food quickly, and because he was experiencing separation anxiety and crying, MIL texted her to come back (and DIL did...).

This comes after the fact that WE ONLY ORDERED THIS FOOD because OF MIL. No one wanted her to be there in the first place, but she felt the need to let everyone know anyway that she wouldn't come unless we got food that SHE liked.
So, not only did she make DIL go out to get HER food, but she also made daughter-in-law return before she could even grab the food because her son was crying, while WE were watching him. MIL didn't have to do anything; she just didn't want to listen to a toddler crying...

And THIS came before my mother-in-law made their family leave early! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Again, MIL wouldn't attend dinner unless she got a ride out of it as well, so she kept insinuating that she wanted to leave until DIL finally took her home...

In my mother-in-law's typical fashion, she used everyone -- including her own granddaughter -- to satisfy her needs and her needs alone: a free meal, and a free ride~ 😊

Yet, regardless of how prevalent Satan's presence had been throughout the day, I was very grateful to see my daughter-in-law and her family. It had been a few months since the last time that we got together, and they all seem to be doing GREAT, thanks be to God πŸ™ They brought homemade eggnog and pecan pie -- they were delicious together...

And, of course, I continue to be grateful to God that I am still pregnant with our first son πŸ™ I am due in February and have only been experiencing minimal sickness for most of it, so praise be to God!! πŸ™Œ

Just a random thought: Maybe the saddest part of life is knowing that some days can never be lived again.

With In-laws like this, who needs enemies?
I presume that the Next Thanksgiving, or any upcoming holiday, that you plan to have different, more appreciative guests.

She has definitely taught me a lot about letting go of pride because I don't want to end up in the same mindset as her...

Yes, unfortunately we have had to cut off a lot of family... My own mother and grandmother reminded me that they still don't believe my S.A. accounts of my maternal grandfather. I don't treat S.A., nor my children's safety, as a joke! 🚫

I think you are setting a good example to your girls.
I know you are making a huge effort NOT to perpetuate such poor self-serving behavior and actions you described here and in previous posts. I pray the Lord will continue to give you strength, wisdom and his peace for your children's sake @borderline.babe ❀️
