The only time I ever had health insurance was when I lived in the Netherlands, where it's compulsory. Thankfully, other than pneumonia about 25 years ago, I’ve managed to avoid illness and injury.
People constantly say the healthcare system in Ireland is completely fucked, but oddly enough, everyone I know who has needed treatment seemed to be looked after remarkably well.
