My granddaughter had a ticket for a trip, direct flight from NY JFK to Nashville Tn. Her morning flight was cancelled. The afternoon flight, 1118, was no longer direct. She had to connect in Boston. Flt 1118 was delayed for so long that the Boston plane left without her. She was given a ticket, for the next day, at 3 P.M. Ultimately, she was able to fly at 9 O'clock on that day, but as standby. I can't do that. Imagine being somewhere and needing to get home. Impossible. Or sitting on a plane for 5 hours. These are experiences tolerated by the young. For me, it's just not worth the trip.

I know what you mean. I was in Puerto Vallarta in February, my flight to Mexico city was cancelled due to civil unrest so we were stuck there for an additional 5 days. I blogged about the year before that, when my friend abandoned the homestead and I had to book emergency flights back home. The previous year all of my flights were cancelled the day before departure due to an industrial action in Germany. That might sound like I travel a lot, but in fact up to three years ago I hadn't left home in 7 years.
