❤️ Be Careful With Your Words ❤️
Something happened weeks ago in my class group — a small moment that left a big impact on me.
Someone had dropped a puzzle in the group. Normally, I’m not the “class group” type. I barely talk there; I just scroll, laugh a little, and move on. I’ve always felt a bit invisible among my classmates, like even if I disappeared from the group, nobody would notice.
But that day, something made me stop. Maybe it was curiosity, or maybe it was my quiet need to prove, even just once, that I was there — that I could contribute too.
So, I took out time to solve the puzzle. Not just that — I gave a full breakdown of how I arrived at the answer. Step by step, clear and thoughtful. It took me almost 30 minutes to type it out. Thirty whole minutes that I could’ve spent doing something else — like writing or relaxing. But I didn’t mind. I felt proud that I was finally engaging, finally visible.
Then the guy who posted the puzzle came online and replied, “Correct… although copied.”
For a second, everything went blurry.
You know that kind of silence that suddenly gets heavy? That’s how it felt. My chest got tight, my fingers froze on the keyboard, and for a moment I just stared at the screen wondering, “Did he really just say that?”
It wasn’t even about the accusation. It was about how quickly one careless word could dismiss the effort I had just poured out.
And the worst part?
No one said a thing.
No one reacted to my detailed explanation.
No one defended me or even dropped a “well done.”
Instead, a few people laughed at his comment — the kind of laughter that feels like knives even though it’s just emojis on a screen.
That day, something inside me cracked a little. It sounds dramatic, but it’s true. It wasn’t just about a class group puzzle — it was about being unseen, unheard, and misunderstood even when you’re finally trying to show up.
It taught me something though — a lesson I don’t think I’ll ever forget:
👉🏽 Words carry weight.
The things we say — or don’t say — can build someone up or tear them down. Sometimes we think we’re joking, we think it’s nothing, we think the person will brush it off. But you never really know what someone is holding inside, or how fragile they might be in that moment.
That single comment might not mean much to you, but it might be the thing that breaks someone’s confidence, or silences their effort for a long time.
So please — be careful with your words.
Be intentional about kindness.
If you see someone trying, appreciate them.
If you can’t appreciate them, at least don’t destroy their light with your thoughtlessness.
Because behind every screen, every message, every post — there’s a human being who feels.
And sometimes, a simple well done could mean more than you’ll ever know. ❤️
