RE: Four Reasons Why AI Generated Comments Are A Big Fat No

The irony of the laptop in the corner of your image "ThinkPad" - it does no thinking of its own, its just a silly Lenovo or IBM!

I really want to rant and vent and say a lot of things about AI, but it is more or less ending up being in one of my short stories (which is increasingly becoming a longer and longer story - with ballooning scope - I may have to serialise it!)

But it is for the most part linked to recent decisions that I personally made which have led to me being in the situation I comfortably find myself in. But! I have, as a result, in my own view, taken the personal high ground on the AI front of things, and to me, that is incredibly liberating.

I am not "anti-progress", but I am "anti-being a fucking dumb-fuck", and the blind and continued use of LLMs / AI models in the community, business, marketing, Internet, and other areas of life where real decisions are made, and real people are impacted by those decisions, without having the ability to understand the larger scope, can and WILL continue the trend of enshittefication of our contemporary existence.

Yes, there's some things that it is useful to use a LLM or a AI for - BUT only if you are already an expert or have significant knowledge of that domain to see through the bullshit.

There is so much bullshit published in all corners of the Internet and other media - books, articles, news, etc - and the fact that LLMs have been trained on this content (which is always and has been written with a perspective and a bias) - will ensure that this bullshit is perpetuated further and makes its way into the world as "fact", when it is, in fact, bullshit.

I despair over these sorts of things in my mind daily, but it is a hill that I will gladly die upon. I just hope I'm not going to die on it alone.

Um yes.

Um yes. Like a pen licence.

I just hope I'm not going to die on it alone.

Which hill? I shall saddle my steed and arrive anon.

I think this above rant will develop into a full post - I just... think it may be career limiting if I am too honest with it, given there's only a few clicks to be done to arrive at my identity :P
