The Morning I Fought My Way Through Endless ATM Lines Just to Survive the Day (Yes, This Is Another Bus Written Rant)

Here I am again, typing this while riding a bus on my way home from work. At this point, I think my phone has become my official “commute diary,” because every time I’m squeezed into a seat or hanging on for dear life in a crowded ride, that’s when my brain decides it’s time to rant. And today’s episode? A simple but annoyingly relatable struggle: withdrawing money.

The Rant: ATM Lines, Offline Machines, and My Slowly Draining Patience

This morning, all I wanted was to withdraw a little cash using my GCash card. Nothing dramatic, nothing complicated, just enough money to pay for my lunch and the chain of transportation I needed in going home after my shift: motorcycle taxi, then two buses; basic survival funds.

But of course, the universe said: “Let’s make this interesting.”

I went from one ATM to another in the mall near my workplace, hoping to find a machine that wasn’t surrounded by a human snake of half-awake people. Every single one had a long line. Every. Single. One.

Finally, I reached the last option: BDO. And guess what? The line was long there too, but I told myself, “Okay, fine, this is it. This is where I make my stand.” To make things even better, only one machine meant for cash withdrawal was working. The other one was offline, just sitting there like a useless decoration.

At that point, I had no choice. I needed cash. I needed to eat. I needed to get to go home after work. So, I fell in line and waited, inching forward at the speed of a melting ice cube.

It wasn’t a dramatic moment. It wasn’t life changing. But it was one of those tiny daily inconveniences that just pile up and make you want to scream into the void. And honestly, that’s why I’m writing this here, because sometimes even the small frustrations deserve a space.

Why I’m Sharing This Here on Hive

Ever since I joined Hive, I’ve found myself enjoying blogging more than posting on my usual social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube. There’s something different here, a sense of community, a space where even simple stories like this feel welcome.

So yes, this is just a simple rant about ATM lines and offline machines. But it’s also a little window into my day, and I like keeping you all posted about what’s happening in my life, even the mundane parts.

If you made it to the end of this mini rant, thank you for sticking around. Your time and attention mean a lot, and sharing these everyday moments feels lighter because I know someone out there is reading. Until my next bus written story.

Such as hassle, only in the Philippines, so inconvenient especially in the morning when you need cash, while the neighboring countries were all using cashless payments even on the bus, and then i remembered, not only the atm machines are unreliable, also the internet 😅
