My moment of depression and anxiety as a corp member serving Nigeria.

Today 9th of January 2025, I write, with dismay and disappointment in the current state of things in the scheme "NYSC", when I enrolled in to the scheme, with the announcement that the minimum wage for an average Nigerian government employee has been increased, I saw a need to enroll so as to benefit from this increments, but since I joined the scheme it's been from this debt to another debt, our welfare is not looked into.
Currently were I leave, as I posted in my last blog post about my journey back to work after the new year and Christmas celebration, I came back to the copper lodge were I leave and discovered that our borehole has been damaged and we are experiencing water scarcity as a result of that.
We are also mandated to pay some money to bring back the borehole back into shape, but I couldn't comply with this demand because I am broke and indebt already and my debtors are already on my neck.

Image of our overhead tanks.

We have been cooking and washing from the water in the nearby pit, but as it stands today this pit of water has dried up and we cannot access water from it.
I only see the government making promises on the news about paying a new minimum wage but in the end of every month workers get paid the same peanuts as usual.
It's very depressing to know that in a time like this when price of commodities, food and basic necessities of life is going up doe to government spending, the same government will come out to pledge that it will and have increased the minimum wage of an average Nigerian employee and in turn it seems like it's just an audio increment and not the actual thing, Food light and water are the basic necessities of life and if 33k NGN cannot afford these things it means that there's problem and currently speaking we are in a very big mess. By the way on my actifit report card I mentioned about washing the toilet, I didn't tell that I went to beg for water to get this job done because what's worth doing is worth doing well.

Sadly it seems more and more like Nigeria is a badly mismanaged country. It’s aimed at being one of the highest populations in the world which is also confusing because it’s full of big issues like this. Pretty crazy!

Yeah, I also believe that platforms like this can also help out, just as Twitter/X helped out in US elections to enthrone Donald trump.
We need peter obi as the new president of Nigeria and this should be a call we need to start making from now
