I do not know why so many old women in our times in this part of the world almost went through same things from their husbands or was it a normal in the then society where men had to prove their masculinity by beating their wives. Most of them even had to marry more than one wife and even had different concubines and children from the different concubines.
The women who were married into these homes tend to endure a lot from their husbands. Leaving a marriage was a never an option as parents never welcomed their daughters who decided to leave their abusive marriages. They always went with this adage that marriage was meant to be endured by both parties.
My neighbor who is a grandma told me that I should chose wisely when I am making the choice of getting married. I told her that our eyes are open now, compared to the past where women endured lots of terrible things.

Times have changed from when women were not given ample opportunity to attend legit gatherings, let alone speak up in legit gatherings where men are seated. Times have changed when women were not allowed to go to school or learn a trade. Times have passed where women were forced into marriages they never wanted. Times have passed where women were blamed for the misfortunes of their husbands.
Times have past were women were women were taught to endure abusive marriages. Times have passed were women were blamed for birthing a particular gender in marriage, for example when a woman gives birth to only female children, she was blamed excessively by her husband and in-laws that she could not produce male children. Times have past were women laboured in absolute silence.
Times have changed were women never had a voice in society.
I love the new era.

¡Hola, amigo/a!
